Official Club Stuff 2015 fixture

Bah! Wife is a North supporter and just once we'd like to be able to go to a football match together and not have the other person pretend to be excited...

Collingwood match being moved to Eithad is interesting. Only one match at the G v. Richmond. We truly are in no-mans land as a club. Sucky time to be an east coast fan
Its because as a football team we have become the "Minnow" and really I blame the players for being so shit and just rocking up to get paid. performance based contracts for all I say, make it a West Coast Policy that if you win you get paid...if you don't you get some shitty retainer.

Your right, the Collingwood match still gets me. We rarely play at the MCG against a team that brings out their supporters. Going to see us play Melbourne at the MCG is a painful chore but the Magpie fans are really great and our players do get something out of playing in front of a large crowd. Ironically, we got bumped for Melbourne v. Brisbane

Being a NSW/ACT WCE fan absolutely sucks.

For the 5th year in a row (and not since R5 2010), we don't play Sydney in Sydney (sure, a good thing for our chances, but devo once again). To top if off, we don't even play GWS in NSW/ACT this year (2nd year running).

Screw you 2015 fixture! I actually haven't seen WCE in the flesh since 2009! (early days GWS games in Sydney (i.e. uncompetitive), including Blacktown, and was out of town the week of the 2010 Sydney game).

Given that there are now 2 NSW teams, WCE fans in NSW/ACT have been absolutely shafted so far this decade, and the last 2 years have been the nadir.
Plenty of $45 one way flights to Melbourne through the year

Pretty happy with this fixture so far.

Best part is we finish the year with 4 out of the last 5 games at Subi, with our only away game being our shortest road trip possible to Adelaide. If we are pushing for finals this will be great.

From a selfish perspective we are only playing 4 home Sunday games (I hate Sunday games), down from 6 this year. The final game of the season could still yet be scheduled on a Sunday though. One of those Sunday games is on the WA Day public holiday weekend... so won't really feel like a Sunday game anyways.

On paper we start the year fairly easily again, then definately go through a hard patch in the middle. Spend a month between mid June and July where we don't play a game at Subi at all. But then the end seems to get easier again.

Maybe so, but I actually like the NSW sides as well, they are generally the opponents I most look forward to facing. Sydney have forever been my 2nd team, and I also have a lot of love for GWS. Plus, family members are Swans fans. Not having local clashes with either side is a buzzkill, particularly given it's not an aberration (5 years and 2 years consecutive for Swans and Giants respectively).

Despite my personal frustration, we have received a rather fortunate draw in terms of our opposition, so NSW aside, I'm happy with the 'potential wins' aspect of it.

Living in Sydney I don't understand how they can justify it. We should be playing a game here every year, alternating with Sydney and GWS home/away

Yeah in terms of who we play it's about as good as we could have hoped for.

In terms of where and when we play it's a shocker. There's no reason why we should be expected to travel to Darwin and Hobart.

Doesn't help the club look after its interstate members either, only four games in Melbourne and none in Sydney for the second year running.

Sucks to be honest, only four games here.

We are one of the most traveled clubs, and we get sent all over the country.

If anyone thinks it's a fair fixture they are kidding themselves, we should not have to do all that travel.

Agreed. Like, I'm happy for NT and Tasmanian fans to get the odd game at our expense out of fairness. But with 2 NSW teams, there is really no excuse for 2 consecutive years without the Eagles. 1 maybe, but 2 is devastating. Particularly now that GWS are finally capable of giving us a contest and beating us.

Pretty happy with the draw.

Our double ups will give us a good shot at making finals. Selfishly, I like that we play in Adelaide twice.

We don't have many games in Melb and we travel a lot, but you can't have it all.

You'r lucky to get a price like that on the weekends, even if staying just for the game and not overnight you're looking at $150 - $200 flights, $100 minimum in taxi/transport to/from Airport at both ends. It's not my idea of wise spending*

Sent all over the country as usual.

6 times we play a Vic side with them having the longer break. 4 times the same break.

Not once do we have the advantage of a longer break vs a Vic side....Just a coincidence though:rolleyes:

No excuse fixture granted to us. Could not of been better for us. It is almost as if the AFL want us in the 8.
If we can't make the 8 with this fixture we have serious problems. And based on our trading the club seems to think we have a great list.
Backing in the clubs views on our list I think pushing top 4 is a reality.

Its looks ok at a glance but then when you delve a little bit deeper you get to see things like that!

Also the end of year run of all Sunday games is shit, means a short break coming into the finals is likely.

I've got $90 return flights for the long weekend in November, leaving Friday night and coming back on the Monday public holiday. They do come up, you just need to be quick. Also it's only $10 each, each way to get the shuttle bus so that's $40 for public transport.

I'm not sure how old you are or what you usually do on the weekend but I can quite easily make a weekend in Sydney including flights, transport and accom a similarly priced weekend if I were to stay here in Melbourne with little effort. Fly out friday night so you're saving $100 - $200 on Friday night drinks after work. Usually don't play golf on a footy weekend away so that's another $100 saved.

Freo given a soft draw...AFL just trying to keep them slightly relevant ???
