Wouldn't mind having a look at Schache. So what will we target with pick 1 next year?![]()
How about a fast but soft inside mid?
He sounds like some players picked by the favored local club who gets the big assistance. What, one that charges towards a pack at high speeds, then panics as he gets close and runs away even faster ????

We still could use another quality tall.
None of the mids really excite me on paper at least.

I thought the same about other teams a year out, doesn't always pan outThe next draft is looking fairly strong at the top end. But Sydney get another chest full of freebees. Cannons look like the favorites for a flag next year just look at the midfield that they are going to have
MD isn't going to like Darcy MacPherson![]()

Is a good small forward. But I think we have enough small forwards at the moment.I thought the same about other teams a year out, doesn't always pan out
and you're right, how tall is he? (D.Mac) don't think he has done anything amazing really to date
Callum Mills and Josh Dunkley for what will likely be loose change. Yeah the academies are fair
This after getting Heeney for a late first round and Hiscox. Oh, they qualify for F/S picks also??
The Northern clubs should be funded by the AFL to run these academies for the benefit of ALL clubs. Players should be open to the highest bidder, with any successful club sitting out the next academy bidding period the following year.
Any way you look at it, Sydney in particular are at an advantage over the whole comp in this regard. No wonder the silence was deafening when they were excluded from the trade period this year.......
Most people haven't had them before, why start now....But I suspect we need to have realistic expectations.

We aren't in a position, right now, to have a massive crack at FA. Because of this, and because I'm not a massive fan of Rance, I think we leave the defenders for another 2 seasons. Realistically we are 2 years away from finals and 5 years away from a premiership, so we're best served growing our team from within and making sure we sign up the core group of stars so they never go anywhere. That must be our first priority.
Talia has the physique to be the gorilla backman, Roberts has the athleticism and skill set to be the Hargrave type defender - but he'd want to start putting on weight, and Murphy and Morris have 2 years each left in them IMO.
Getting Boyd will prove a master stroke and addressed our starkest problem, our inability to have someone to catch the highball in the forward line. The freedom and change he will make to the forward line will be a revolution for Dogs' supporters. Stringer and Crameri now get the rubbish defenders and although Boyd will take 4 years to be a truly dominant force, we will be a very good player even as a kid. I cannot say how happy I am we did this.
We have enough talls on the list, we really do. Do we have enough good talls I guess is the question... This year will be a very interesting one for Ayce Cordy, Fletcher Roberts, Talia, Redpath etc.
I'm concerned we will go backwards or hold ground because we've lost body strength and experience, but, I've said it before, this group of kids is going to be some team....
They should make the academy & f/s mutually exclusive. So in the situation where you get one of each nominated before a certain pick you either chose one & miss the other, or use the nominated pick & an earlier to pick (if possible) to get both.Callum Mills and Josh Dunkley for what will likely be loose change. Yeah the academies are fair

If there is anything that I am annoyed about, it is getting no Friday night gamesOh.....please do not get me started on on these northern state academy players. It's just another example of how unfair the AFL system is, to go with Collingwood and Essenedon getting ANZAC day every year. It's just charity.....but hang on the only clubs perceived to get charity are clubs like us who receive equalization money. Talk about double standards!
If there is anything that I am annoyed about, it is getting no Friday night games
if we don't get any next year, I will chuck a world class hissy fit
Yeah, we don't get the same level of exposureYeah.....I totally get the whole ratings thing and so I understand that, I even understand why you want two well supported clubs on ANZAC day. But as a result of this, we can't grow out brand like those clubs and then to compensate us we get money from the AFL.....but everyone thinks it charity. That's what I really hate.
If anyone says to me "you get money from the AFL" I say ok, so give us ANZAC day every year, you can keep the money.
Yeah, we don't get the same level of exposure
we're starting to get in some real talented young players so I hope that we get some more better tv time soon
but I am more then happy to fly under the radar and have some opposition clubs support us, especially Collingwood supporters who say 'it us against them'
LOL
We got a lot of Friday games when we were in the window. Our time will come.
I dont have an issue with this, except please explain the 6 Carlton Thursday or Friday night games.... That extra 2 points makes a big difference apparently....
Bigger supporter base I guess.....We have to be up and about to attract a decent viewing. I don't know.

sorry, I meant any the next seasonWe don't have any next year![]()

I've been banging on about that rabble for ages, even called SEN after the GWS game about it saying how critical that loss would probably be to our hopes of Friday Night Football and that if we would've finished ahead of them then at least we can say to the AFL hem hem.Answer is obvious - it's the ratings and supporter base. But the AFL shouldn't come out and say you earn Friday night games and then give 6 to Carlton. Carlton - they're shit..... They haven't earnt anything in a long, long time.....
