He needs high possessions & intercept marks to score premo. Langdon's three 100+ scores last year were also his highest possession games last year 24, 23, 23 possies & 6, 8, 8 marks. In 6 other games where he had similar possies (20+ & 6+ marks) he scored between 70-90.

The problem being, when he has less than 20 possies, his average is less than 60ppg. I'm unsure if some of these games were lockdown roles or injured.

All depends on how he is used from week to week...still to early to tell with him IMO.

Thanks he was good for me last year as a cash cow i just thought he may get some time at half back to gets points but i may need do some changes to get a st kilda defender

Yarran is interesting and i love him but like most Defenders a 120+ game is quickly followed by a 60. Grrrrrrr

I could not honestly pot anyone that takes Yazz though as he is a game changer with elite disposal.

Taylor and Fisher i am not fans of but that is just my opinion.

Yikes, don't think I'd enjoy riding that rollercoaster.

I'm looking at guys at that level below that can push into the top 10 defenders this year.

Taylor averaged 94 in 2013 and has worked on his running, solid NAB games.

Fisher coming back from injury, avg. 92 last year and 100 in NAB1.

Yarran looks to be being used as the #1 rebounding defender for Carlton and has been impressive in both NAB games.

I think you can make a case for all 3 although I don't think I'll go in with all of them. Can see myself starting with 2 of the 3 though.

so are you saying that Simon White at D4 probably isnt the way to go?
Simon White is a supercoach gun and is the exception to the rule.

he's tonned up twice now in the pre-season
seriously looking at him for a spot...perhaps not at D4 but maybe D5

i didnt see either of the games though. any Blues fans have an opinion on how he played?

Individually, what % chance do you give each selection of being a 'keeper'?

White is a player i do not rate at all.

I do not see him in our strongest/best 22 at all and is suspect under pressure turning it over with a poor disposal. Big scores in NAB games does not surprise me but when the season starts proper it is a deer in headlights scenario especially on the big stage at the MCG against big teams.

I know this is all just my opinion but when i see him run out and have the ball in his hands i sort of cringe much like i do with Matty Watson!!

I could be wrong and i hope i am as we are short on good key defenders but i am skeptical and at 287k forget it.

100%, that's my reasoning behind picking them. Even if they stagnate and average the same as they did last year (85, 92 for Fisher), then I'll be happy to keep them given that the top defenders probably won't be too far ahead of them. I can't see any reason why their average would drop.

Could go 30, 40, 30 one week and then 140, 140, 140 the next!

If you're going off pre-season scores, then Rohan Bewick ($344k) has 188 @ 94 from 2 games. I don't think either White or Bewick are good options (although am going to ask the question re: Bewick on the Lions board).
