what do you guys think about trading witts to sydney who are desparate for a ruckman for their 1st rnd pick which goes to gws with the pies 2nd rnd pick. treloar then to collingwood? Everyone wins that trade... witts and grundy just dont work together! swans get their ruck for the future 'upgrade over pike" gws get good compesation for treloar to help get another zone selection player that they are after, pies get a very promising classy mid!

No, its a rule....but you already knew that
Semantics, you say?
Aye.

Hypothetically we can't trade Witts to GWS for Treloar and then have GWS on-trade him to the Bulldogs for their first round pick.

We can trade Witts direct to the Bulldogs, who give their first rounder to GWS, who trade Treloar to us.

QED.

not premiership material if we are building towards it.. i see no value in him to be honest. i think he protects himself out there rather than sacrifice. not a characteristic i particularly like in a player.

I'll have to pay more attention to him next time I watch him. Can't say I've noticed that before.

Lack of pace yes, lack of hard running possibly.

Would still rather see him get a game instead of several hard triers we consistently give games to that consistently don't perform at the required level.

Well it is tiring work making 9 tackles like his game on the weekend. Or his 27 disposal average for the past two seasons

You're probably right :P It always looks like he's exhausted, but then he keeps going and going. Some of his best work seems to come in the last quarters.

Sydney will have a late first round pick. GWS won't accept a late first round and mid second for one of the best young mids in the league. They'll ask for our first rounder which will likely be top 10.

Apparently the dogs don't want witts, are after Peter wright from Gold Coast

So you doing another Boyd deal?

Spend heaps on money on a Tall who play VFL next year?;)

Peter Wright who sees himself as a forward who can pinch hit in the ruck?

Would it be wise to recruit a player who wants to be a forward as a first ruck?

Reckon Wright might be a bit far off for a team tilting for a premiership in the next few years. You'd want someone in the right age bracket who is not too pricey given the Boyd contract. Not saying you want Witts but he is a better fit than Wright.

im prob being a tad harsh on him.. hes just a strange player to watch.. he is neither here or there or anywhere. whether that is due to the fact that he hasnt played much senior football i dunno. he definetely protects himself though that i know. lack of maturity i think he lacks. even when he is playing well it looks by accident. i dunno i just don't like him.

Treloar and Carlisle would be the most important pieces to the puzzle imo anything after that a bonus.

Langdon Brown Williams
Maynard Carlisle Scharenburg
Freeman Treloar Sidebottom
Grundy Pendlebury Adams
Swan Cloke De Goey
Elliott Reid Fasolo

Moore Crisp Varcoe Greenwood

Others id look at: Yarran, Aish, Motlop, Hartung, Gaining a pick good enough to get Wiedeman

Good point, I agree with you. but I dont think it actually matters what pick gws get in the first round as they very likely to use their 1ST RND picks on the 3 zone selections they have waiting for them. All 3 are projected top 10 talent and gws wont want to lose them other bids from clubs. I think pies should still explore trading witts regardless as another 1st rnd pick could be packaged up in other separate deal to get another piece to this team. You cant rule us out on landing danger as well. we have assets from south australia in shaz, broomy, kennedy etc not impopssible come trade period

I think we have a few needs, some X factor and speed, another A grade or Elite midfielder and a KPF or swingman.

Overall there needs to be an improvement in our kicking, it's probably not even the physical aspect, just developing their ability to stay calm under pressure, not get flustered, and think.

We are fortunate to have plenty of good young players already on our list, so I think we can be reasonably aggressive in on trading picks(this draft and next).

GWS can accumulate enough points for their academy players with a couple of second round picks. If they get a top 10 pick, which is what they'll want, they will use it at the draft table or in another trade.

And as far as I'm aware, only 1 of the 3 GWS academy players looks like top 10. Sydney look like having 1 and Dunkley as father/son that project as top 10.

Think I read an article which said Carlisle was looking for 700k per season! Couldn't afford him and Treloar at that price.
