So just on the TV deal: the rights are increasing by 67%. If the salary cap increases at the same amount, it'll go from 10.9 million to 18.2 million.

So Buddy's 1.1 millon a year goes from being basically 10% of the cap to being 6% of the cap, which is the equivalent of a player earning $650k today.
Insane to think what Dangerfield and Fyfe would be earning with the new cap

8 year contract for $14M.
All I know is that in year 6 of Buddy's contract, $1.6M will be cheap!

They'rre smart at the Swans.

Before the celebrations get into full swing...
Everyone knew when the current deal expired, everyone expected that there would be an increase in the cap, the idea that Buddy's manager is that much of a dill that he didn't somehow link Buddy's deal to the CBA/salary cap is not realistic. Ditto Hanners' manager.

Not like buddy becomes the average wage calm your farms

Doesn't need to become the average, he's an above average player.

I think a lot of us knew the salary cap would jump quite substantially over the next few years and this is just confirmation that the Buddy deal was never as bad as it looked.

Yeah but maybe that's already factored in through back ending in the contract. We don't know how the deal is structured. He could be on $800k now rising up to $1.2m in anticipation of when the new cap is introduced. I can't see any club agreeing to a floating salary based on some future unknown, especially when our deal offers Lance so much long term security at high risk to us.

True to a point, but he will still be one of our higher paid players for 9 seasons, potentially not playing, it is still space other clubs have to sign one or two maybe 3 players

But hey i actually think he could play at least til the same age as goodes so who knows

Jason Holmes to debut for St Kilda, not many will remember he was originally brought out by us along with Patty Mitchell and another dude called Mark Cisco. We had first dibs on any of them, however we elected to sign Mitchell (who put up Paul Chambers type numbers in the NEAFL and wisely chucked in the towel) and passed on Holmes who's been a very good VFL ruckman

I wonder if swansfan51 will put this down in the Beatson files, or because he had a soft spot for Mitchell might spin his way out of this one.

I'm very sad about this, I did my absolute best to talk up Pat Mitchell but it was doomed to failure (what happened to the Nankervis vs Naismith wars??)

Good for him. Hope he does well.

Lachie Henderson requests a trade and won't play for Carlton for the rest of the year. Either has walked out on the club or the club has tossed him as a consequence of requesting a trade, depends on your perspective I guess.
Not like they are pushing for a flag. But yeah if he requests a trade I wouldn't play him.

Be interesting if Geelong get Henderson and Dangerfield.

Naismith got injured

Bez ignominiously pulled the pin when he realised what Nankervis was going to do this season. I for one don't blame him,

That would hurt Carlton. He's one of their better stories this year. Culture much be poison there at the moment.

I would think he is in the Top 3 of the B&F with Cripps and Murphy.
