Yes I would. For the exact reason I doubt they'd want him. He's a tease. All the talent in the world but can't put it together.

IMO we play better with 2 tall forwards and our medium sized mids at FF. That's our x-factor that other clubs don't have. When we played Griff on the weekend we didn't play Dusty/lids/cotch at FF. Happy to keep him as depth but if someone wants him and it helps us land a player I'm all for it.

I like Griff. Have for many years. Lovely guy, booming kick and can really fly at it.

But his stock standard game is 11 possessions, 3-4 marks and a goal, or maybe 2. He's a good player, but for where we want to go, he's probably not good enough.

He was on a 1 year deal going into 2014 and even then that was probably only because he had zero trade value.

I'd have thought he'd be of interest to Freo, Lions or GC before GWS.

If Pies are such a destination club than by rights your offer should be $100k less than anyone else and he would still nominate the Pies.

Our midfield doesn't need depth as much as it needs an out and out gun inside mid. We literally only have Cotchin and Miles who are are elite in this role, and only really Miles who has been effective because the opposition mauls Cotchin because they know how bare our engine room is for quality clearance players

That's why we're going so hard for Treloar, because he's the type of elite mid who can lift us into premiership contention and allow our midfield to compete with the big bodies of West Coast, North Melbourne, Adelaide (Dangerfield pending) etc

I wasn't suggesting we haven't offered more, I was asking if it had been confirmed on here that he would have chosen the Tigers if money wasnt the key factor.

Be that as it may, I now firmly believe the Tigers will have to match Collingwood's contract offer for Treloar to agree. This is logical based on the fact money seems to be a key factor in his decision, as you've indicated. You guys have now presented a good trade for GWS. It is now up to Collingwood to produce something better.

If Treloar came to Richmond on more money than any other player we have, I'd suggest that's fair. He'd be our best player. Next season could see him in the top 10 midfielders in the comp, potentially higher given greater exposure in Melbourne. Whether he goes to Richmond or Collingwood, that doesn't change. A consistently outstanding player isn't something you brush off. Good to be aggressive in chasing him.

We have our plans for a number of players and they'll fit in fine.
