If we were to delist Cordy (which we have) and pick up Fitzpatrick as a DFA or rookie pick it would be an upgrade.

I'd rookie him as KPF/KPD/Ruck cover if necessary.
Fitzy is so injury prone its shocking
After watching him for a year, he isnt what bulldogs need or want
He would be lucky to get a vfl offer with the amount of injury problems

Not sure whether this player has been mentioned as maybe a Ruck/Forward but would we consider Jonathan Giles from Essendon.

I think he is over 200cm and I vaguely recall he played forward at times for GWS

Nope, Giles is stunningly mediocre

But that can only be judged subjectively mate. There's a major possibility that an injured Stringer or a late blooming Bonts will be there at pick 11 (or whatever thereabouts we have). With the amount of clubs that traditionally go 'safe' the odds are on our side.

EDIT especially with at least two, maybe three Academy players going before our first pick

yeah, Im not saying we need to unilaterally pick a tall with our first pick, only that talls and/or needs need to be given some kind of premium.

Lets say we rate all players in the draft on how likely they are to be star players from 1-10. Lets say that list management wise, we know we are light for key defenders CHFs and midfield line breakers. Then lets give those players a +1 in their rating, thats all.

I guess the thing that worries me with Dal early on is that I couldnt tell what criteria he was selecting players on - Howard and Fuller, for example, seemed to be picked because they had a nice kick on them. But with his recent drafting, particularly his last draft, his criteria of good decision makers who can execute under pressure and have some contested ability is a proven winner. But what talls can we point to that have proven to be all out successes? He hasnt selected that many (which over time becomes a problem in itself), and the ones he has selected havent exactly set the world on fire just yet. So I worry about what is his selection criteria for talls - whats he looking for?

For instance, IMHO, I want a tall player who has a huge appetite for the contest and physical presence, first and foremost. They are the rocks around which the smaller players operate. All the skills and athleticism in the world doesnt help a tall player if they are upset by crashing contests. A 6 ft 4 Mitch Wallis is my ideal starting point for a key position player, regardless of his athleticism or skill level. But I do wonder what Dal look for.

His last contract negotiation begun with "hi bombers, how about you give me $20 million per year to troll every other list manager in the league? That sounds like a fair deal to me"

He made more than double that from his investment in the Armstrong Creek development. As did Bomber.

The key is to sound like you know what you're talking about. Remember it's not a lie if you believe it's true.
I never listen to SEN, my car doesn't pick it up well and can't be bothered by any other means, but I follow them on Facebook and several AFL related pages bring up things said there.

Every time the name Denham comes up I read along, scoff, briefly try and remember if I've ever heard any morsel of truth from his mouth then actually begin to wonder if Denham is actually topdog69.

So just saw this in the other thread. How can we make it possible people?

There are many ways obtaining a very high draft - all involve a monumental meltdown on here and on Facebook! :D

Hrovat, Talia and ?? for Melbourne's first round pick ??? :p

That wouldn't cause a meltdown...and we would surely be after pick 1 or 2 to get Weitering if we are going to sell the farm.

Wouldn't mind us going for Cameron Giles.
Loved his pre-draft work. He's been absolutely wrecked by injury though and would be a risky pick up. Would be a great defender if he got his body right.
