American Crow - I really appreciate your thoughts from afar. You wrote "I know my opinion doesn't rank...." But your thoughts about the game last night and your appreciation of the efforts of the 2015 coaches are reasonable and lacking much of the hysteria and ethanol overdosage from last night's game.

I, for one, really appreciate your opinions.

Appreciate the kind words. Season was truly a unique one and I prefer to think of the good moments. Coming back against Brisbane, beating Port, West Coast, and the Doggies. (Just to name a few)

Yes it sucks we got drummed by the Hawks. But all things considered being one of the last six teams standing was an achievement.

We will be back. (With or without Danger!) ;)

Worsfold and campo joint coaches 1.5 days off each through the week. Recruit Pyke from freo for the strategic approach as senior assistant

The idea of Campo getting 'outcoached' by Clarkson shouldn't go against him. Campo at the helm absolutely got the best out of the Crows list.

Yes it should.

Why get a coach who we know can't match it tactically with the good sides?

I think any appointment in any industry there is an eleiment of luck.

The truth is we only had Walsh for a few months and his methods were never truly tested. But the early signs were and his hostory as an assistant that the club got the appointment correct. As you say there is no guarantee they will get the right person, but we can back em in to go through the correct process and get the best person they believe will do the job. Going forward it is pleasing to know we have people in charge now who want success and not look after their own jobs and ego.

Agree that the "Do it for Walsh" mantra does need to be toned down a bit. It was a great motivator for the players this year and Walsh will always be remembered but the club does need to move. We Fly As One is a great mantra and having PW on the back of our jumper is fine. Subtle reminders of his time with us are fitting. But when the new coach comes in it has to be his team, not living in the shadows of a dead man.

Never met the man but I suspect Walshy would be pissed if we did anything but get on with it.

As you suggest, that isn't disrespectful but carrying forward as we all have to do in life.

Spoke to a friend who is good mates with Roo.

Reckons it was always going to be Pyke.

Crows were keen on Worsfold but Mrs Worsfold doesn't want to live in another two team town.
Supposedly 1.5 mil for 5 years at Essendon

Does anyone know if you can still bet on who the coach will be?

Hi guys, sorry to intrude.

Heard on the radio the other day (can't remember the name of the show - but Rucci and Tom Then (??) are hosts - "Off the bench" maybe?) that Neil Craig was being looked at as a coaching director or senior assistant. Haven't found much else on the subject since, which suggests to me they either made it up on the spot (they usually trot out bullcrap once or twice a week) or Craigy and the club aren't saying much (which is fair enough).

Anyone on here heard anything about that? Just curious that's all.

Regards

In terms of coaching staff news, Worsfold is most likely gone. Campo will not get the top job but likely to stay on as an assistant but Milburn will not return!
Do we have a replacement lined up?

Don pyke is the one. Tactical master at eagles. Has served a lengthy apprenticeship. Knows the south australian football system. Fagan said we will announce our next coach within a week of the gf. That tells me their waiting for a coach involved deep in finals. Worsfold talking to essendon behind the crows back was a disgrace. Fagan would have been filthy with him. Especially while our team he was working with was involved in finals. Cant be trusted and if he wants to even entertain getting involved with that grubby wrinkly **** paul little and the efc then he is an idiot and i dont want him at my club.

Sportsbet doesn't have a market. I contacted them a couple of weeks ago and they were going to look into it. Never heard shit.

Agreed, it has to be Pyke. Too many subtle hints.

Pyke when he was on the radio was talking about his career. He said something like "yeah I did start at Adelaide" the way he said it the next line could have easily been "so it's ironic I'm now senior coach". Just sounded sus

No, they want Jack Billings AND the Saints first pick for Carlisle. Just like the ridiculous price they put on Ryder's head last year and they refused to budge so had to be sent to arbitration.
A top 10 pick for Melksham? Please. Melbourne possibly want him, but unless they get a number of picks in the top 10 then I think they would be hanging onto the ones they already have.

The club would have very limited information at this stage about the WADA case, unlike the previous one where it was run completely by the AFL. This is being run by CAS.

That is not the only thing hanging over a 5 year deal being a great gig, their standing amongst the rest of the AFL, which is very poor atm, and the lack of administration nous would be weighing heavily on any prospective coach. All of those things are being regularly highlighted at the moment from their own stupid decisions and some strong media reporting. Even Rohan Connolly who is a huge Essendon fan has turned on the club in the media.

Hey Nikki did you hear what Essendon reportedly want for Melksham?
Howe and a first round pick, lol..

Complete and utter tossbags... Id rather Howe than Melksham

Probably a load of crock but Neil Craig was a good coach but he wasn't a good game day coach unfortunately, very good strategically, my father speaks highly of him he went to school with him, was a great player back in the day too.

I think you are being harsh on Worsfold.
He came here to help out our club and never made any promises.
We more than likely had already spoken to Pyke and possibly agreed to terms...
I think Essendon and Worsfold needed to have those discussions. Unfortunate it was so public but Worsfold and Essendon need to do what is best for them.
And it was disappointing the Essendon did not contact Adelaide

Fair enough, if we already have our man. Not a good look though. Surely the grubs couldve waited for a couple of weeks. Out of all the clubs why apart from the $$ would you want to go there. Shitstorm.

I did and shook my head. There seems to be a set asking price for Essendon players as last year they wanted the same for Ryder and wouldn't budge. They asked for Hartlet and a first.

I really think Worsfold is a man of integrity..
And I also think Essendon are a grubby a club..
Wouldn't be surprised if Essendon let Worsfold down by not alerting Fagan

And if he wants to coach in Melbourne there aren't many clubs looking for coaches..
And as I mentioned earlier in the thread I reckon it would be a sensational club to get a 5 year deal at ( obviously IF the 2 year ban doesn't eventuate)
