Seems fair....but I think Richmond will look to trade out for a high 2nd rounder (20-22ish) re the likes of Astbury and use that. I don't know, but for some reason I think 12 will be used for something else.

I'd argue you were in contention. 5th having beaten 3 of the top 4. Just needed to get that extra game under your belt. Top 4 is a different kettle of fish.

as I said, I just have a feeling 12 will get used for something else. And think Yarran is worth more than 31. Interested to see what happens from here

It is smart play by CFC. You guys need as many good picks in a strong draft ASAP and 2016 draft provides that so its a no brainer for me to let Yarran go via FA. I would do it and frankly other clubs would do the same and I would even base list management strategy around it. I am sure some clubs are fully expecting to lose FA targets when they come off there hiatus and are looking forward to the draft picks they will receive to build again.

Its a terrific cause to get fantastic picks in 2016 without fear of being accused for tanking. CFC are simply doing the best for the club, players and fans in the long term like any other club should and tbh are setting a great example and providing true leadership owning the responsibility to properly build their list going forward so a premiership will actually be at the end of the tunnel instead of fake BS most fans have to put up with from club officials lining their own pockets!

Yes he was drafted at pick 6.....but so was Mitch Thorp.

It isn't talented that saw Yarran dropped this year. He spent 4 weeks in the VFL total this year because he was basically in self preservation mode. He had already left the club in his mind and you guys approached him a long way out. We weren't going to put up with a few glaring examples of a lack of effort from one of our most talented guys, especially when whispers of him wanting out were flying around.

AFL article summed up the radio this morning, saying you guys want a 1st round, we're baulking at that, so they're trying to negotiate something in the middle ground. That is pretty much what this entire trade thread has been haha.

Yarran for pick 20-25 is probably his value that both parties would be satisfied with, but tigers have to find that pick to avoid dicking over CFC and developing a bad trade reputation.

If a player was approached mid-year dont you think they would want to play well to up their salary??

Yarran and Henderson had a bad year. Most Carlton players had bad years...THATS WHY YOU FINISHED ON THE BOTTOM...
They want out and its just your excuse for them playing terribly.
Yarran and Henderson have both only really had 1-2 good years for their carear. They are not worth 1st round picks.
Carltons list is in terrible shape. I can understand that your list managers want high picks to rebuild but you want give the players up to get 1st round picks.
I think if we had a pick in the late teens that would be fair. But we dont.
IMO it will be a take it or leave it deal and it will be done late in the week for our 2nd round pick.
The other option is that Brisbane give us a 2nd round pick for Astbury and we on-trade it to the Blues for Yarran. But IMO Astbury isnt worth that either.

Richmond supporters are delusional thinking they'll bag Yarran fir a 2nd rounder in any draft year let alone 2015.
Yarran's value is mid to low 1st rounder nothing less, even then his a bargain.
Or Lennon and exchange of Richmond's 2nd rounder for our third.
Otherwise he'll play for NorthenBlues and be professional about it too, unless he wants to be in breach and then he'll not cost a cent.
Silvani will not be compromised, enough giving players away for nil.

Richmond are picking up Yarran for his proven A grade ability... not because of the on/off field dramas that resulted him playing in the VFL at Carlton.
Thats what clubs do, they recruit players that they think can deliver their best.... not their worse.

Personally i think 18-22 is spot on given Yarran's talent.

A-grade talent has consistent elite years of football.
Yarran hasn't.

He has a contract though. Personally If I was in carltons inner sanctum, I would reject that flat out and let him rot in the 2's for a year. The problem is only that Richmond dont have what Yarran is worth.

You need to get a pick in the 20-25 bracket to get it done.
