Traded Chris Yarran [to Richmond for Pick 19]

Out of curiosity, probably a question more at the Carlton fans, could GWS be the 3rd club involved?

Carlton want Plowman, Phillips, etc..... Is there a way that something like:

Richmond: Yarran
GWS: Carltons (Pick 38), Richmond (Pick 31)
Carlton: Richmond (Pick 49), Plowman, Phillips, lamb

I dont know, I am shit at hypotheticals. Richmond really steal that trade, but GWS get a couple of picks for the academy selections, Carlton trade Yarran for some youngsters.

Ha ha, nice try, no we don't

Next year via FA is far better for CFC , RFC and Yarran

I think everyone knows who the desperate ones are in this situation. Hint: it's the team that finished bottom and has a contracted player who would rather not play at all then play for them.
Disagree, Carlton are under no pressure because there's a general acceptance that their going be rubbish the next four-five years. Missing out on a pick 30 in a weak draft is not going to change that fact. Richmond on the other hand have a mature list and have failed miserably the last 3 finals series. They desperately need an injunction of quality into their team to bridge the gap b/w them and the top 4 before they window closes in the next year or two. They are under a heap of pressure to find these recruits yet so far they've missed out on all their key targets.

We don't have a mature list though. Most of our talent is in our youngsters like Dusty, Lennon, Ellis etc...

Waiting to 2016 should not be an issue except for some who might be putting their careers ahead of the premiership desires of the club, players and fans.

We have not won a final yet!! Clearly we still are a developing team!

CFC have every right to anticipate a good pick in a strong 2016 draft and it should not let other peoples ego's get in their way!

Bit naive to think that a club who's just finished bottom are under no pressure to improve their list. Holding onto Yarran and sitting him out for another year only clogs their list and sets them back even further. I agree we're under a level of pressure to find these recruits but even if we don't sign Yarran there's a good chance we'll scrape into the top 4 next year just on natural improvement alone, then the finals becomes a completely different ball game. Whilst we'd like to secure Yarran, especially because he's come out and said he wants to play for us, saying we're desperate for him simply isn't true.

We are not under pressure to get recruits. We are at least 2 years off it.

Like the Pies supporter postered CFC are at least 4-5 years off it and need to fill cap space. A list clogger is not an issue, nor is slipping backwards.Neither does not clash with getting good draft picks which is what everybody at the club, players and fans should want to build for a premiership for the likes of Cripps and others!

Mate you're all over the place. You liked his post about us being under huge pressure to secure new recruits but now you're saying we're not under pressure at all.

Fact is any team that's finished bottom is automatically under pressure to improve their list right away. No team sits there and accepts they are going to be shit for the next 4-5 years without doing anything about it from the present moment. Having Yarran on the list not playing football instead of developing another kid in his spot is going backwards, or at the very least not going forwards.

For the right price only, Silvani will not be compromised, don't belive all you hear or read in the media. Its garbage

Oh that's right. Another messiah has come to save Carlton. Silvani.

Good luck with it.

Player X says he wants to get to location y. Tends to always equal the same thing.

we've been saying all the time - Yarran not going anywhere if its not the pick that Carlton wants.

Take that one to the bank....again.

You should not put words in my mouth with your propaganda. I liked the post for my own reasons not yours. I am the one who liked the post not you!

I like the post because it said CFC was under no pressure.

I actually do not agree with the RFC part because RFC IMO are not desperate for mature recruits right away but do need to recruit in the next 2 years including draft picks. RFC should be able to happily accept Yarran in 2016 as a FA.

BTW CFC do not care about backwards and forwards. Yarran can play reserves and as long as CFC get good draft picks mission accomplished!"

So you make a point of disagreeing with me over an issue with another team, yet stay silent in your disagreement about an issue with our actual team. As I said, all over the place.

We'll just keep him the disgruntled sooky , no sweat.
Richmond apparently don't think he's worth too much offing a 2nd rounder we can afford to lose the huge deal.
But the point is do the tigers let go an opportunity to secure a quality A grader for a fair price?
Plenty to act out next week, but things will get very interesting by Friday if Ben Lennon hasn't signed up to Tigerland.
Ciao

Far from hindering our rebuilding, holding onto currency like yarran only helps us in getting rid of the dead weight. We may well hold onto an experienced player that will never make a serious impact at afl level should yarran, henderson & bell all walk out the door, if one stays we delist that experienced player instead and draft the same amount of kids and then next year when he goes we can draft an extra kid in a better draft.

After 2nd week of pre season training when whips are cracking Yaz will be fine .

How does holding him help you get rid of dead weight? He is the dead weight. The salary cap minimum is a non issue.

He's hardly going to be "currency" worthy of holding onto in a years time when he hits FA. The AFL will give you bugger all compensation for a guy who hasn't strung 2 seasons of football together, worse than the 2nd round pick we're currently offering.

Yarran has been good for CFC - if you don't rate him then look else where.. the club says he is a "quality player" Quality players don't go for pick 30..understand?

Richmond supporters a legitimate question. What do you think Lennon is worth?

No doubt he's worth more then pick #31, but he's not worth pick #12. Just because your clubs rates him there doesn't make it so in reality. The issue is we don't have a pick in the low 20's to reach a happy medium. So it's a case of who blinks first. My money is on you. CFC aren't as keen to hold onto him doing nothing for another year as some of your bigfooty posters.

AFL HQ can't take club politics into it when calculating compo. It would be seen as draft tampering IMO and AFL integrity init would have to bring them into disrepute.

Obviously you are pushing your politics which is fine.

But remember the clubs, fans and players interests of both clubs are more important than self interest!

That's your problem then - not ours.

This is what I do not get.

I am a Richmond fan, I am happy for Yarran to stay another year to 2016 at CFC.

Carlton fans seem happy for Yarran to stay another year at CFC to 2016.

The fans represent the clubs, who do you represent?

Player X says he wants to get to location y. Tends to always equal the same thing.
Trades involving contracted players

Hampson for pick 28.
Stanley for pick 21.
Dawes and pick 45 for picks 20 and 58.
Vince for pick 20.
Wellingham for pick 17.
Fevola and pick 27 for pick 12 and Henderson.

With Yarran younger than these players and committing to Richmond, Carlton will have the final call. For the Blues to be satisfied, it will have to involve a first round pick or a former first round pick like Lennon.

We kept Thornton and Walker who wanted to leave as uncontracted players. Blues aren't going to sacrifice a player who is younger and more damaging than these players, let alone Robinson, Garlett, Waite and Laidler who haven't been busts.
