Not sure who they are referring to but swanky has accepted unders for years. Pendles similar
Cloke the only one I can recall demanding overs from the pies
Junk article in regards to the Pies

It would be in regard to those middle tier players more I imagine so referencing Pendlebury/Swan/Cloke versus Mitchell/Hodge et al is probably not accurate. However that next rung down like Dawes, Wellingham, Davis, Jolly, so on so forth were probably searching for a lot more coin than they were actually worth after overestimating their own ability. Idk, it's a bit of nothing article as you say.

We need to trade in either Sam Reid/Adam Tomlinson or a top 15 pick to get a KPF on top of the trelour deal to make this trade period a success (I think people forget Sam Reid is only 23 and also has the ability to pinch hit in the ruck if required)

Our rumored/confirmed losses aren't best 22 so not a massive loss (Seedsman/freeman/Kennedy) as long as we get decent draft selections for them (2nd rounders)

Then if we could somehow get Aish on top of trelour and Reid-Tomlinson/top 15 pick - Derrick Hine will officially reach legend status and require a statue out the front after our next premiership win in 2017

With Goodes' retirement and doubts over Buddy's future, I'd be surprised if Sydney would consider trading Reid. Tomlinson or a young bloke would be good, or maybe the tall forward will be targeted next year.

we're all assuming that Pies are trading this year's first and next year's 2nd...might be the other way around.
Hine may be attempting to draft a KPP in the first round this year (McKay?) and have his eye on someone for the second round next year.

we have wasted time money and effort on dud mature recruits.. only one that i can gladly say we got right was big bad leroy brown. if we are going to add any mature age recruits on our list be sure they were not on a downward spiral before they got here.

Jolly and Ball say hello.

Melbourne rated Kennedy as pick 4, 3 years ago and are very keen on him now. You would think as a show of faith for Kennedy they should be prepared to part with pick 6 with very little hesitation.

I doubt it.

They'll need the points for Hopper plus they'll want to hold the top 10 pick they currently have so 7 is 99.9% out the door. I hope I'm wrong though because Curnow or McKay would be a good outcome!

On Reid the only way that's working is if Witts goes so it's another at extremely long odds.

Interesting snippet in Jake Niall's article about the modern era:

'...A bursting salary cap also conspired against Collingwood, which was one of the youngest premiers in 2010, runners-up the next year and has since embarked on a rebuild that is as much cultural as a re-stocking of cattle. Collingwood's top players have not accepted "unders" in the manner of Mitchell, Hodge et al and it is not surprising that they weren't in the market for A graders from 2011-14...'

Yeah not much love for club at pieland from a lot of the players just a "job" too many it seems, we seem to recruit mercenary types Hawks culture and Geelong is very different to ours and you could see a genuine love for the club from many of them.

Young would be clearly an addition.
Highlight 1

Highlight 2

Saintly Viewed Lacking in the beard but definitely the look we are going for to channel Ragnar
Fantastic.
We need Ragnar for sure.

Ps loved how he missed in first highlight, that was our standard in shots on goal last year, hed fit right in

I'm not sure why people are assuming we are trading any future picks as part of the Treloar deal??

Pick 7, 26 as it sits from this year are available.

Then we are likely to receive:

Seedsman - 2nd rounder or player.
Freeman - 1st to 2nd rounder pending on how savvy pies are at the trade table.
BK - 2nd rounder or player.

2016 stronger draft 2nd round picks worth having, this year not soo much.

Plus they have 3 academy players to take this year.

I don't see why we would myself, but I can understand why some would.

They'll have academy players next year too and with 7 alone coming in the points they'll have this year with discounts can still enable them to bring in Kennedy, Hopper and Himmelburg.

The only concrete opinion I have on it is that keeping 7 is an unrealistic option.

On his day he could.
I dont want to burst any bubble here, but it is only a best on ground for a highly attended home and away game. See McGough as an example.
Seedsman overall to me better player than Blair. He played a cracker game.
But Blair is ok but just a player say in the group top 20 - 30 players depending on form etc.
All id suggest is that if Blair was at Hawthorn he would get more rave reviews as thats what happens in the top teams.

I just reckon that Blair has got the best from his ability, but Seedsman hasn't got anywhere near his best. So I can see Seedsman going on the be an A grade player, but for me, Blair will always be a solid B.

Blair a solid B? What's the extra 25% he's adding to his game?

At best he's solid C or a bottom 6 best 22 player in a decent side.

Standard from that distance would be missing it completely. Hitting the post clearly indicates potential.

To be fair, even looking at our top liners in cloke, Pendles and Swan. I'm pretty sure when cloke signed his new deal all three were rumored to be around 800k which is 2.4 Mil. I don't think hodge, Mitchell and Franklin/rough which would of be the equivalent would be anywhere near that mark.

[QUOTE="ClaytonM, post: 41360252, member: 13lly and Ball say hello.

Im not talking about big prized mature age recruits I'm talking about silly sceptical ones that are simply a waste of expenditure in every possible way[/QUOTE]

They cost very little and therefore more often than not achieve very little. But you always need a mix on your list.

They're incomparable. Mitchell and Hodge would never have been on more than $600k ditto Selwood and Bartel. Our three though at their peak as you mentioned at $800k.

Give me 4 very good players at $600k over 3 stars at $800k. I don't believe it cost this group a premiership (I think that was a hunger issue), but it would t have hurt.

Nah you don't. Who are those in that mix on Hawthorn's list? They haven't bought one in since Bruce and more often than not pas them on (Cheney, Hallihan, Young and Gilham).

The key difference is they target blokes who they see filling a best 22 role whereas we traded a number for depth. We misread where we were at its not the end of the world, but we cant afford the same mistakes moving forward because Hine isn't untouchable.
