I was lucky enough to be invited to the Combine earlier this afternoon.

Saw the boys put through the repeat sprint test - not a lot to be taken from it, but interesting to see nonetheless.

Was hoping to see Jack run through it.....but he was a non-starter. Anyone know why?

Shoulder surgery some weeks back.

Who won the beep?

What a garbage skills test.

Hey AFL, hire me, I can improve your entire combine setup inside a week by myself. No seriously: you're that bad at your jobs.

Long left.. short right.. middle left.. I gather it's to add a bit of information processing to the task. Seems like they need to ramp the speed up a bit

Starting to think Weitering is worthy of carrying the no. 10 next year.

It's either Weitering or it gets retired for a year. Thoughts?

Cringle please? Don't put any more pressure on him? I don't think he will be able to handle it.

Who knows? He might get no. 5 instead.

Weitering stats
absolute vertical jump - 327 cm (3rd overall)
absolute running vertical jump - 344cm (3rd overall)
20m sprint - 3.04s
beep test - 15.1 (5th overall) - apparently has run 15.5 previously which would have made him 2nd overall (ref - http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/a...393489392?sv=1955ee18c093e75d884862d1dc7c2315)

From testing it would appear that he has elite endurance, a great leap - combine that with reported (news/draft profiles) strong marking, elite long kicking, competitiveness...

Wondering whether weitering has spent much time up forward? - Could he potentially be a nick reidwoldt type forward? (with better kicking)

I know you shouldn't judge a highlights reel but Weitering's marking was his best characteristic.

I'd happily play him as a high half forward taking a dozen marks a game between the arcs.

(Of course we're hoping to get Tomlinson to play that role)

Clayton Oliver has really impressed me lately, came equal first in the goal kicking test and had a really good latter half of the year. We should consider him around the 20ish mark.

Don't think he'll go that low. Looked a very good player from what I saw but did start the year slowly.

Well from all I have heard /read and seen - #1 for Weitering is probably a lock.
Looking at our list we seem to be missing some firepower up front - to be made worse if Levi Casboult is actually traded.

Gibbs/Thomas/Graham are likely to be fit for 2016 - but midfield rotations will be stretched as potential inclusion Plowman is more a rebounding defender yes?
IF Tomlinson eventuates he is more a flanker with massive tank than a dedicated forward...

so more class required in on ball division as well as a dedicated leading forward to support Levi - who may r may not be at Carlton.

Pretty tough situation for Club to manage in 2016 and supporters to stomach in 2016. We could end up with a great defensive team who can't score goals.

tbh - this type of situation is interesting to watch unfold- if an armchair observer like me can figure out the challenges - I wonder what the new coaching regime have in mind as far as structuring up forward...really interested in the Cub's response as far as forward structuring goes...

Buckley/Boekhurst/Sheehan/Byrne/Menzel/Graham/Docherty all have to step up and ....
Hollman/Whiley/Jacksh/Walsh (depth at this stage) just as much

however making things happen in controlled fashion up front rather than the bomb it it no one...will require a total rebuild for us..

Thomas/Gibbs/Murphy will have to have a more organised Everitt/Casboult/Walker?/Menzel/Rowe? running patterns and creating space..if our midfield is weak on rotations - our forward line hasn't even been invented yet...fascinating.
