Torrens beat us in '83, too! Actually Woodville beat us in both years as well. And we had the '84 filling for this shit sandwich. Ugh.

This ... reported last week.......We are 40,000 members, did I see that the Cows were going to reach this figure before us? Have they released their numbers yet?
I love the "The figures meant one in every 28 Australians was a member of an AFL club."This ... reported last week.......

Woodville was meant to neuter Port but instead it neutered West Torrens.
The SANFL got a strategic decision horribly wrong?
Who'd have thought.
..... Counter-intuitively in this period, Port could perform well against the powerhouse sides during the minor round, but couldn't find that extra gear in finals. Sometimes the difference there is one player....
Phhht plz, itz Malcom
#malcom
in a sliding doors scenario, no woodville zone would probably have meant M Blight playing for the magpies. And if there was one player that could make a difference it probably was Malcom....

LOL ... You know what they say ... "Lies, damned lies, and statistics"I love the "The figures meant one in every 28 Australians was a member of an AFL club."
It doesnt allow for all the double counting that occurs with SMA, when people buy double memberships so they can use them with casual footy mates, corporates get memberships attached to their packages, but no specific individuals, people who double up with AFL membership with club support + club memberships etc etc.
Kevin Sheedy buys a Vic club membership from every Vic club.
LOL ... They have given up progressively announcing their membership figures ... seems to have coincided with the rise of Port's membership numbers. We cant have the customers all despondent seeing Portz Pear catch and overtake the mighty Crows, can we!!This article said that the cows were tipped to announce their 40,000th member, did they actually announce that they had reached the target!?

Thought that might be the case, media thought tipping cows would reach 40,000 was more important than reporting that we actually have reached that figure!! Have to keep the customers happy!?LOL ... You know what they say ... "Lies, damned lies, and statistics"

I honestly don't know how their supporters stay positive! Get treated like mushrooms!Thought that might be the case, media thought tipping cows would reach 40,000 was more important than reporting that we actually have reached that figure!! Have to keep the customers happy!?
The cow paddock gets fertilised so they stay happy that way.I honestly don't know how their supporters stay positive! Get treated like mushrooms!
Imagine if the SA media actually were balanced in their footy coverage, our membership would grow even more!
They seem to suffer some sort of Stockholm / Battered wife syndrome as a group. Club treats them with disdain - customers, insulting justifications for wrong doings, pretend everything is fine when players are known to be going, being about the only club unwilling to publish Membership numbers, etc. - yet rather then pull the club up and demand better, they accept it and go the step further and rationalise the actions as clever and proof they are the best club in the state.I honestly don't know how their supporters stay positive! Get treated like mushrooms!

Maybe, maybe not. People love a despised underdog.
Now its probably not such a big deal but the damage dealt 5-10 years ago was an outrageous handicap.
You are probably right, but, those people that know little about footy, that form the potential convert, are influenced by daily media.Maybe, maybe not. People love a despised underdog.
Yep Bobbies 100th that week. Rooch on the radio the next day saying "give us something worthy to write about". Never forget.Yeah, I agree. I'll never forget the time when the Friday lift out leading into our home game against Carlton contained not one single Port related article.
