Phasma is actually weird as it seems they went out of their way to try and make an iconic character and then did absolutely nothing good with her.
Yeah they marketed her like she was a big part of it then...nothing.

probably wanted to draw on Brienne of Tarths fame and popularity.

Does everyone else agree about this? Seems a lot of people took the bridge scene as something else.

But imo Kylo didn't almost go with Han, then change his mind.

Han KNEW that Kylo was suffering great pain, having the light still in him, and that he needs his father's help to stop the pain.

Han agrees, holds the lightsaber with Kylo, he HELPS his son because he loves him, helps him suck it up and kill his own father so that his son doesn't suffer anymore.

There's even symbolism evident in that scene. The light of the sun is completely drained just before Kylo kills Han. Suggesting the light in Kylo is now extinguished.

I've seen it twice now, and I liked it better the second viewing. Have heard (and read) others who have now seen it a 2nd, 3rd, 4th time, and the consensus seems to be the more you watch it the more you enjoy it and forgive its flaws, and even start to see the cryptic logic behind those flaws -- not flaws, just open-ended questions left for Rian Johnson to answer when he carries the baton.

nah. kylo knew what he was doing.

Nope, I think Han thought that he was helping Kylo commit suicide. That was why there was the massive look of shock on his face when he was killed.

The massive look of shock would be physical shock having a lightsaber impaled thru you. He touches Kylo's face lovingly....like to say, "i love you, hope that helps you now, knowing Snoke wanted you to kill me to prove yourself to him."

I'd guess setting her up for a far bigger role in Ep8.

Only if she got out of the trash compactor before the planet blew although that sort of problem hasn't seemed to bother JJ, i.e. Hux needed to find Kylo and get off planet before it blew and Poe got off Jakku and back to the Resistance base before the others even got to that other planet.

My only major nitpic (other than the TIEs not being based of Interceptors) is why did R2 just power up, there was really no apparent cause.

I think the reason is why all the old TIE fighters are no longer with us is because in the Visual Dictionary it states there was a disarmament treaty between the New Republic and the Empire. Which makes me believe there is a whole graveyard full of old Star Destroyers and Imperial TIE Fighters. I really hope this is explored in Episode VIII, maybe Finn and Poe manage to find a couple that still work.

If Chewie can find Finn and Rey, Hux can find Ren and Phasma can leave the base and become a bounty hunter with a vendetta against Finn.

As for Poe...Jakku > Ilynium vs Jakku > Maz Kanata's world > Ilynium. Remember, he woke up at night long after Finn and Rey had already gone with BB-8. That's why there was an APB out for the droid from the Resistance - he knew it would turn up somewhere, because he would have went to Neema Outpost due to the fact that it had just been attacked by TIE fighters and in doing so heard about the two that were seen with his droid.

That's why he's not surprised when he sees Finn the same way that Finn is.

It's not a problem. It's treating the audience with respect to their intelligence and believing they'll work it out.

It's already been confirmed Phasma has a bigger role in Ep8, that the actress is back to film for Ep8.

Sadly films don't do that much anymore , hell even Letharity and Co needs the film to explain everything and hold their hands .

It's actually Jakku > Ilynium > Maz Kanata's world vs Jakku > Maz Kanata's world.

Well if you're going to be pedantic it's Jakku > Ilynium > Maz Kanata's world vs Jakku > random location where they are picked up by Han Solo's freighter (after Rey had to spend an undisclosed amount of time fixing the Falcon) > Maz Kanata's world. Or do we really need to be told that, with the First Order in pursuit, that Rey made the jump to hyperspace before she went to have her conversation with Finn?

And there's nothing to suggest that Poe had to go to the Ilynium system. He could have had a new X-Wing delivered to Jakku by the Republic and gone straight to Maz's place from there, rendezvousing with the rest of his squadron.

That's the little issue I'm referring to, there was no sense of time frame for these things. Everything seemed to just happen straight away.
