I'd rather know for sure than risk travelling in to find their just doing indoor work. The Open Training Session is nearly always the Wednesday but can go to any you want

God when Grundy has to play against Blivacs Goldstein ect it isn't going to be pretty, he really needs to improve his running.
2 km time trial is not a good indicator to show if you can run long distances, and grundy went ok
game fitness wise where he will run any where from 10-14 kms a game and not a couple laps sprint.
I would rather see a 5km time trial instead and see how that goes, time wise
If you don't like people who speak reality then put me on ignore TD.
It's a shame so many people on here are unable to cope with differing opinions
Grundy's gonna be a gun Dave![]()
agree why the time is held at 2ks, but for any good runner that is an easy sprint so there times are sort of nothing as well. any reasonable runner5km time trial and any long distance running is pretty much irrelevant to a game of footy. Yes players will run 10-15kms during a game but most of that is in an aerobic capacity. Short bursts at a high intensity with rests in between. You need to increase their anerabic threshold, so they can run harder for longer. These 2km time trials are just done to keep the players honest.
Most runners aren't carrying 85+kg with them though. The upper level for AFL seems to max out around the 6 minute mark (with a few exceptions) with the bulk of the better midfielders falling in around that 6:30 area.agree why the time is held at 2ks, but for any good runner that is an easy sprint so there times are sort of nothing as well. any reasonable runner
that cannot do 2kms under 6.20 is not that good.
for some one like grundy a 2km time trial would not be his go and I would not expect him or others around his weight to get any where near the time. Most runners aren't carrying 85+kg with them though. You put too much stock in time trials.
More just constant negativity. Most people here are pretty balanced in their opinions on our players and where we are at as a club. Constant negativity is very draining to read. Your reality is a long way from most other people's.

What mail?Looks like my Treloar mail was spot on. Awaiting apologies.
There is not much point just yet admonishing Grundy for coming last in the time trial with 7.30ish without any context. We don't know if that is good or bad to be honest, we just know that it is last (but someone has to come last).
I'd be more keen to understand how that time compares to the likes of McEvoy, Sandilands, NicNat, Jacobs, Goldy, Sinclair, etc before we decide whether Grundy has a fitness problem or not.... He might be average.
In perspective, in the bike ride on training camp he performed well. It is perceived that the time trial results mean he doesn't have a tank, which is plainly wrong. Way I see it , he can't go full tilt for a few min but he can maintain a steady pace for a longer period. I don't see an issue with that for a ruck position. The context is that he isn't improving against himself...
I'm a big fan of what Grundy brings to the group on-field, but he needs to improve his running capacity there's no hiding from it!
The main query I have is whether it's an issue at Brodie's end or the running program the club has set out for him? I genuinely don't know which would be a better result, but at the very least he should be shaving time off of a circa 7:30 TT by now, IMO.
Swanny can't get near sidy in a time trial but look how much better he plays over the year's. Some people run better when a bone (ball) is put infront of them to go fetch. I rather rate the beep test and repeat sprints test better than a time trial with stop start efforts like a game situation. But running a good time trial is a good bonus to have but it's not everything. In perspective, in the bike ride on training camp he performed well. No expert either but I would assume the development of Grundy would be more on core strength and other ruck aspects. So that is time trial is stagnating while he is improving in those other areas, doesn't bother me too much. If he stops developing overall, then we should indeed be getting worried.I am not a expert on the subject, but you would think someone going from school to a full time training would naturally improve in most aspects. So seeing him run similar time trial times does concern me a little
