Caroline Wilson is the one who probably predicted the eventual outcome years ago and kept a hard line on Essendon.

Barrett was good, I get the impression he thinks something was up with the AFL Anti doping tribunal but has held back for whatever reason slamming the panel members and the AFL.

Fatprick Smith went up in my estimation. He's still a bit of a tool, but at least he didn't cower like many others in the industry.

Large Fries and Rho Rho absolutely soiled themselves. I'll never take them seriously on any subject. Especially Connolly. Over the last couple years he has spoken so much shite on SEN it's embarrassing. I'd go so far as to call him a bare faced liar. The reason so many of the public were suprised by the results is bullshitters like him.

The "independent tribunal", complete with hand movements. Garry Lyon and Caro weren't in disagreement either.

As for Lloyd, I actually think he did ok - he was clearly shocked by the result, but he is very much a team man so that's quite understandable. Over the course of Footy Classified the other night you could slowly see him accept it, and he knew in the end it was the correct decision.

Francis Leach was one of the very few journalists who'd question things, and was consistent throughout. He earns a gold star too. Here's a recent article of his.

How you guys have forgotten about him is beyond me. He's better than anyone in the OP's list.

Also, an honourable mention to Tim Lane who wouldn't buy the AFL and Essendon's bullshit.

I've had a man-crush on Frank ever since he went hard at Eddie McGuire about clash jumpers one arvo on SEN.

I loved him anyway from JJJ days...but I've never heard anyone stand up to Eddie like that on an issue...respect.

Special mention goes to Crakers K! He was all over this 3 years ago - first to say that the AOD was irrelevant. :thumbsu:

One thing I've been critical of with Andy Maher is that he MC'd a lunch where Zaharakis spoke (a Marcellin event on 20 July 2013) and said that he wasn't truly scared of needles and that he was asked to go with that story.

I think it was then up to Andy to challenge the prevailing Zaharakis narrative but other than hinting at it (eg ) he hasn't done so. Maybe because he's too close to Tim Watson.
Thanks for posting this , i called this needle stuff nonsense on stilts early. My wife who has no intrest in footy, out of blue asked me about some essendon player who was scared of needles. That pricked ( sorry ) my interest , she said she met a family friend of zakas and said he was smart enough to knock back this program. Typical mexico /new mexico essendon spin

Mark Fine (said the job of carrying other people's piss was fitting for ASADA/WADA Employees)

Stephen Peak (said there will never be enough evidence to convict in any court in the world and that he would stake his reputation on that as a leading Barrister)

Tracey Holmes (sycophant)

Rohan Connolly (Never once took his Essendon Duffle Coat off)

Cameron Moonie (just an idiot)

Dave Culbert has been brilliant .
Listening to him school and just maybe get through to the jockstrap wearing Cameron Mooney was terrific .
For him to get the truth out there to the public whilst surrounded by the snout in trough brigade that is the Melbourne football media is a credit to him .
He has been everything Mark Robinson hasn't , informed , well researched , articulate and courageous .
"Mr delusional" ... well played sir !!

Tim Watson is understandable. Any parent would defend their child. If he wanted to be regarded as a professional, however, he should have said from the beginning that he was too emotionally invested to comment. Instead he has been repeatedly embarrassing.

Robinson and Connolly have ruined their professional reputations. Newman's was non-existent to begin with.

I generally have little regard for Wilson or Barrett in general but their reputations have been enhanced through this.

And Titus O'Reilly has won the entire three years!

Some journos who have done very well throughout the saga include:

Caro Wilson
Bec Wilson
Pat Smith
Francis Leach
Baker and McKenzie
Roy Masters
Damian Barrett

A common theme is that none of them are members of the footy boys' club.

Excellent. One of his main points was 'The rest of the sporting world is laughing at the AFL'. Trying to point out that the AFL know f*** about how to investigate, judge and apply sanctions in a drugs case.
