Were they better than some of Grundy's taps?Hey I agree that some of Witts taps in the Pre-Season games have been Top Shelf

We would have 3 out of 4 Witts/Grundy/Cox/White on the sidelines for the benefit of having Moore and Gault up forward? Surely not.
Not a big fan of Cloke at CHF. Watching him get the ball up the ground is like watching groundhog day.
Cloke takes mark wheels around on his left foot and bombs it forward without looking.
Every time.

So he "bombs it forward" to a spot 30m out dead in front and we have some young chargers like Cox or Moore or Gault jumping at it.....the problem's been that Clokey had to bomb it forward and then try and mark his own kick!
With the big kids we've got coming through our targets up front suddenly look a whole lot brighter. At Kardinia Park last Friday night the "kick it to the hotspot" theory was exploited time and time again and it looked extremely efficient. Fasolo benefitted three or four times from knowing where the kicks were going. It's not rocket science, but now we have the artillery up front to exploit it. Clokey will love being a part of that.
Clokey bombing it to the 'hot spot' from a wing has gotta be better than having him work close to goal as the primary target.
Leaves us awfully thin up front. And Cloke wouldn't get the attention he usually gets which creates gaps for the rest. And I thought Howe was earmarked for that position?Playing higher up the ground is a different proposition to playing CHB. I have no probs experimenting with him up at CHF but still think the goalsquares his best position
Don't think he's faster enough off the mark for CHB, is he?Playing higher up the ground is a different proposition to playing CHB. I have no probs experimenting with him up at CHF but still think the goalsquares his best position

I'm in the 'now that we have some decent support for him, let's play him at CHF' camp. There a million reasons why its a stupid idea but it has been suggested by some of the Bigfooty "brains trust"
That's great news. Not sure if it's been posted somewhere else, but looks like Smith has escaped major damage:

Excellent news if that is the case! Really looking forward to seeing Smith grow as a footballer this year, whether it's mostly in the seconds or not.Not sure if it's been posted somewhere else, but looks like Smith has escaped major damage:

Are we? I'd say we're not there yet, but a 'long way off' is more what you'd say about Carlton, Essendon etc imo.
Boring. Even Pendles is more upbeat. We are a long way off because we are coming off a poor season last year. I'm as excited as anyone about what we saw on Friday night but it must be tempered by the realty that it was little more than a training session. I'm not interested in how our team looks on paper because quite frankly I think some of our players are overrated, particularly when compared to other sides. Let's wait and see what happens when the real stuff begins, hopefully PancitCabagan is correct.

Understood but he seems more bullish than the required level of optimism. He kind of has to be, being the captain and all.
