Howe had to come in this week for sure but will take some time as (a) hes had an interrupted preseason and (b) hes never played with Collingwood before. Medium term I'm not convinced about him, he needs to show he can win enough ball which is something he never did at Melbourne. It wont be enough to be on the highlights reel every week. Thats something Fasolo took five years to learn...Howe has about half a season to learn the same lessons!

As for Gault, thats a different story. Howe certainly cant ruck though and I'm concerned that we'll have to use Moore and Cloke. The ruck/key forward balance question is still an open one and will remain unresolved for quite some time imo.
I'm more upbeat about Howe, to pick up a 100 game player who has spent the last two seasons as a defender learning a defensive side to his game, is a nice little get for us at a pretty low price.

As for that second ruck, I am confused, what is the plan? Grundy to ruck 80% of the time and Moore, Cloke and Goldsack?? (when the ball is in defense) to ruck. That's the aspect I'm most inquisitive about today, what is our ruck plan without playing Witts and Grundy in the same side.

I'd be assuming Grundy does most of around the ground but Cloke/Moore doing forward line ruck contests....with Cloke doing the occasional centre bounce.

Does that get our % back on par
As a rule, very general rule, think:

For every 20 points you win by you go up 1% at the end of the year.
Conversely for every 20 points you lose by you go down 1% at seasons end.

Remembering that % only truly counts at the end of the home and away season if points are even between 2 or more sides.

Using that rule of thumb we are sitting on something like 96% at seasons end if everything thus far roles the same.
As over a long year the % condense accordingly from round 1 to end round 23, when it really counts.
It's a simple rule of thumb that seems true each year.

You've gone the other way though. Considering the club is widely acknowledging that 2017 is our aim for pressing toward top 4 this is a year in which we need to be involved in September.

St Kilda on the other hand are 18 months behind in their development so it really shouldn't be a tough one given our aspirations this year...
I have gone the other way??

Just pointing out that sweeping statements like "if we lose today we should sack Buckley" add nothing.

It is reactionary dribble, the domain of guys like Robbo and D.King, who need to create something to talk about for the week.

If we win by 10 goals today does that mean Buckley is safe and everything is rosy!??

Having my first experience in the MCC today with a mate from work. For those who have been there what can I expect?

In terms of the game, this is the first time in three outings against the saints I've gone to the game without a brutal hangover. I hope that doesn't jinx us!

Looking for a solid four quarter effort. With that, we win. If we stutter then anything could happen.

Floreat pica.
