IMO the cashola is not the problem Chalky.

It is what we have to give up in picks that would be the issue.
I thought the Dees winning a heap of games would probably be the biggest issue.
They took Melksham of Essendon for a pick and offered him $350k per/yr so I don't rate their list manager to much

No frost love, 8 yr solid full back, good size very capable stopper. Put him around weitering, plowman, byrne and docherty and he doesn't need to be a play maker.

We don't need the greatest kpb that's ever played the game (we have him) we need a Hartley, frost, adams or mohr type, that holds up an end.

I just heard on the Couch that Tom McDonald is holding off resigning for the Dees. Anyone think he'd be worth a sniff or do you think he'd want to much cashola??
If he is holding off signing at the Dees means he is wanting more than they are willing to offer, seems he is just playing the game

Manchild all the kids and i think Wieters made him look a lot better than he really was, was always going to be found out a little in afl, having said that 1st game up against the inform CHF of the comp atm its always going to be a big ask. JGM every day of the week for me.

There was a lot of talk that we should have taken Collins with pick 19, to partner Weitering.
Just from what I've seen so far, I'm glad we didn't.
Not that I don't think he might make it at the doggies, his just not the right fit for our back line.
It's ok to be a key defender and be 193cm tall.
But if you are a defender around that height you need to either have very good athleticism and agility like Nick Hayes or have a high football IQ and read the play better then others like Plowman.
JGM makes a lot more sense , has a more rounded game then Collins IMO.

If we can get hold of a another pick in the 11-18 range of this years draft, we get a shot at either Battle or Marshall both soild KPF. I'm not sure of thei kicking skills but height , marking ability and intensity are good.

Unless of course were willing to part with next years 1st rounder for say a ready to go Patton or similar out of contract type.

Battle Marshall and Mercreadi will all go top 5 and Rotham top 10 by the end of the year IMO.
There is not much high end KKP talent in this draft. Clubs with early picks will generally take talls.
Will need a top 5 pick if we want to add another Key Forward this year IMO.

Wouldn't Trade any picks for next year draft from early reports is looking absolutely stacked with talent.
Already being talked up as a potential super draft.

To simplify, here is our top 20 players in terms of trade value. It's not really worth discussing anyone else on our list.

  1. Patrick Cripps
  2. Jacob Weitering
  3. Bryce Gibbs
  4. Sam Docherty
  5. Marc Murphy
  6. Levi Casboult
  7. Matthew Kreuzer
  8. Zach Tuouy
  9. Ed Curnow
  10. Lachie Plowman
  11. Blaine Boekhurst
  12. Charlie Curnow
  13. Harry McKay
  14. Dale Thomas
  15. Andreas Everitt
  16. Liam Sumner
  17. Nick Graham
  18. Simon White
  19. Liam Jones
  20. Kristian Jaksch

I feel like there aren't any real obvious trades looking at this list.

Tomlinson far too good for 2's football. Think he's more suited to playing midfield than up forward. Really hope we get him for cheap.

2 NEAFL Dominant performance with 35 touches, 18 marks and three goals. Superb. -
3 NEAFL Big engine getting up and down the ground again. 31 touches, 15 marks, but goalless. -
4 Port Tried hard up forward, but couldn’t impact the scoreboard. 3
5 NEAFL Worked tirelessly up and down the ground but didn’t have a lot of support. -
6 NEAFL Huge numbers again and a big presence. 28 touches, two goals, nine inside 50s. -
7 NEAFL Bye. -
8 NEAFL Had a picnic with 44 possessions, 13 marks and 11 inside 50s. -
9 NEAFL Continued stunning form in midfield with 52 touches, 11 inside-50s and a goal.

There great numbers for a midfielder but 6 goals in 7 games not really the forward we are looking for.

Would anyone be keen on Brad Crouch from Adelaide? He is a great athlete, plays in a similar style to Dangerfield, although less violent (the good kind of violent). Hasn't really been able to show his explosiveness and exciting ability at Adelaide due to injuries and not being able to take his chances in the first team. Seems the type of player who would do wonders with a fresh start and opportunity to get regular first team action, especially under a guy like Bolton.

I'd almost take him over Prestia given I'd think Crouch would come cheaper. Crouch has much more upsid and could be a game breaking match winner ala Dangers. Prestia's best is an inside bull who will get clearances and cont. possessions but not much game breaking ability. Probably more risk in Crouch but much more upside, and probably would be cheaper as he is on the outer of the first team, unlike Prestia who is crucial to GC atm.

I am soooooooo over the myriad of posters on here wanting to DRAFT another tall forward.
There is merit in taking either a more mature utility who can play the role (Tomlinson), who would
be capable of moving to another role when our kids mature. (Downgrade of 1st pick or 2nd rounder
would have to be the maximum outlay to secure him)

Casboult, Jaksch, Curnow, McKay and Silvagni, along with stop gap Jones have it covered, in a
couple of years we have the supposedly bigger, better Silvagni on the radar. Why the **** would
we draft another immature young tall with a top draft pick?..............we wont!!!!!!!!!!

A state league swingman or a possible DFA for a year or two would do the job. Hell, if no young ones
on the horizon, a bloke like Khan Haretuku, who has been a dominant VFL swingman for five years or
more would suffice as a late pick or rookie.

Quite a bit left field, but our biggest shortage is young midfielders, and our top picks should be reserved
for them.

Absolutely. With their star studded midfield, with so many more kids to be developed, the opportunity for Tomlinson or Plowman before him to be trialled in the guts has been non existent.

the thought of a midfield of cripps murphy gibbs tomlinson charlie kerridge curnow cuningham graham is exciting.

There great numbers for a midfielder but 6 goals in 7 games not really the forward we are looking for.

The very fact he is playing through the midfield means we can't expect the goalkicking stats of a forward.

I do think his versatility is important though. Just not sure he has had a run at playing forward.
