You did not just put Simpsons name in that list. ******* lol Shiek

As usual, you can't read what is written, might be time to get your cat some new glasses Irene.

"are all in the mix to be delisted or retire this year or next."

At 32, Simpson has a very limited shelf-life in the game.

Simpson will play for at least another 2 years.

Said so himself.

Why is everyone so keen to cut players once they reach 30.

Simmo has the body to play till he's 36

it would have saved us all a lot of effort if you'd put those words in red the first time. Sheesh.

Whats everyones take on Tom Mitchell, what would we be willing to give up for him and should we go hard for him. Being out of contract helps but he seems to be happy in Sydney even with family in Victoria. Personally, i would love to see him and Cripps pair up, think they would make a really good contested ball winning pair.

I can see 11 changes off the primary list alone... And Liam Jones isn't one of them
Who would've guessed that at the start of the year?

I think 10 for sure,

Jason Tutt
Mark Whiley (no long term future, I expect SOS will be ruthless)
Jayden Foster
Dennis Armfield
Simon White
Matthew Dick
Michael Jamison
Clem Smith (even though only 1.5 seasons in showing no significant development)
Cameron Wood
Andrew Gallucci (unlucky, as didn't have a chance but again ruthless approach expected)

and possibly 11 if one of the following is added to the cull,

Nick Graham (needs to get back into the seniors and STAY there!)
Billy Gowers (it seems some at club see a future but it needs to materialise)
Dillon Viojo-Rainbow (similar to Clem, not developing quickly enough)
Ciaran Sheehan (unlikely and would be a tough but 26 at years end and has missed a lot of footy. Will this have had a long term impact on development?)

Ciaran Byrne will be elevated so either 9 or 10 spots available for trade, FA and draft

Walker? Possibly retire?

Who said I'm keen to cut Simpson ??

I'm being a realist, he can't play forever. Most people thought Jamison & Walker would be playing for another couple of years too but they are now struggling physically. Unfortunately, the end comes quickly for the older players.

I think Walker less likely to retire than Jamo. Probably better placed body wise

I love Army, just don't feel he offers much beyond this year and SOS and co. will pursue an aggressive draft / trade strategy. So he may be a delist target unfortunately

I think the club will delist 10 at a minimum this year. Certainly there are enough candidates to choose from

What do we think is the maximum number of players the club will delist? 12?

After the massive turnover last year, I'm not sure how deep the cuts will go

Many a person was adamant that we would only be making around 7-8 changes to our list last year and look what happened, a massive cleanout that has injected some much needed new life into our club. It will be 12-15 changes again this year, that is the sad reality of where we are coming from.

Walker, White, Jamison, Dick, Tutt, Jaksch, Whiley, Jones, Wood, Rowe, Gowers, Foster, Armfield, Smith, Sheehan, Viojo-Rainbow & Simpson are all in the mix to be delisted or retire this year or next. There is also the ongoing discussion of how Gibbs, Everitt, Tuohy, Casboult & Graham could be trade options.

The game against North Melbourne gave us a reality check as to how far away we are from the upper echelons of the league. Hanging on to fringe dwellers and non-performing B-Graders isn't going to help us bridge that massive gulf.

Don't think the game against North did anything of the sort.

Missing Kreuzer and Phillips as frontline ruck options.
Missing Casboult as the focal point for the forward line.
McKay and Curnow in the wings, the former should be getting a few games next season with a view to launch into 2018, the latter should be a regular fixture from round one 2017.

We'd come off a six day break following four hard-fought games, NM had a seven day break after playing a half against Essendon.

We were smashed, absolutely, and the players and coaches won't be happy about it, but there are mitigating circumstances that more than account for our performance.

Plenty of blokes on your list will be on notice, you're right about that. But I'm not convinced we have the luxury of being able to offload 15 players at year's end. 12 is probably the upper limit, especially considering most of them will be delistings/retirements, rather than trades.

RETIRED: Walker, Jamison
DELISTED: Whiley, Wood, Gowers, Foster
AT RISK: Tutt, Dick, Smith, Sheehan
ONE MORE YEAR: White, Rowe, Jaksch, Jones, Armfield, DVR, Simpson

Rowe, Jones, White and Armfield have shown enough this year that they should be retained as injury cover if nothing else. Jaksch and DVR should be persisted with for at least one more year, and I'd be very surprised if we didn't see them in the seniors towards the back end of the season. Simmo goes on until he's done - his call.

Tutt and Dick unlucky, both show plenty in the VFL but haven't been able to make the most of their AFL opportunities. Smith seems like a bust, hasn't shown anything to make me want to hold him, coaches may have other ideas though. Sheehan has the rest of the year to crack the senior side - has been unlucky with injury but at 26 it's now or never.

Based on the above, that'd be 10 players gone. Might get something for some of the "At Risk" group in the way of third rounders (Smith, Dick = picks around 60).

Even so, that's 10 spots to be filled with picks 5, 23, 41, 50 (WB), 59, 60 (Dick), 61 (Smith), plus three rookie picks. Grab a delisted FA or two and we can bundle a couple of late picks for earlier ones.

If you wanna turf another 4-5 players, then we need to get something in return for them, otherwise we're taking pot shots at 70-100 in the draft.

Interesting that everyone seems to think Buckley is safe.
I think he is as good as gone.

White was giving two years last season so he won't be going anywhere. We have atleast ten players who could be delisted and not missed so I really don't see the need in letting Armfield go just yet. All that will do is give us about our third pick in the 80's. Give him another season.

Another deja-vu post, this is the exact same thing I kept reading over an over and over last year.

There are no limits at all, if the club wants to cast-off 15 or 16 players then they will. Having said that, the only saving grace may be the number of draft picks and players they acquire through trades etc.

I hope to see McKay and Jack get between 2-4 games in the seniors at some stage this year. it would be great for their development and give them plenty to focus on in the pre season. I can't comment on Charlie because i know stuff all about glandular fever but he's already had a taste of the seniors and showed glimpses of some x factor.. 3 great pick-ups for the club, can't wait to see them playing regular seniors together!

Strongly agree Mitchell would enhance CFC best 22 - but he is not as good as Cripps IMO.
Would cost our first round selection (no Brodie) and we would have to pay $ overs to make it happen (as Sydney has a tight cap) which may hurt our retention strategy, but we should have the cap room now.
I would trade our 2017 first rounder for Mitchell, but do not think it would make CFC a significantly better team (move from 12th to 9th). We need more!
