Roast Our goal kicking coach (Gia) is not working out....

As tertible as our forward line is at the moment I can't help but recall our last premiership window where our mids were piling on the goals. We just dont have that Gilbee or Eagleton that can hammer one through on the run from our 50 line.

Ask yourself....
Do we have more of chance of getting 6 points by backing our selves from 45 out on the run..Or

Get the ball 25 metres out with a series of hospital handballs and stumble bumble ball handling untill one of our players decides to have a blind snap
Well we did, but one of them pulled their hamstring doing exactly that and the other has an ankle injury.

Last couple of years people have made similar claims about Rohan Smith and backline now we have best rated defence in league, truth is no-one outside 4 walls knows if he is/isn't a good assistant.

Beveridge refuses to play tall up forward = intercept mark central when mids have no one to kick to

Boyd and Campbell have played too many minutes in the ruck to be effective up forward, bring in Redpath/Boyd this week and keep the 2 rucks going

Surely we do this. People have argued we will loose the ability to lock the ball in our forward line but our inability to score or even look dangerous up forward has to be fixed.

We aren't even locking it into our forward line these days through manic pressure (men of mayhem) which was a big focus last year, we rely on defenders pushing up to create numbers now if we are holding possession in our forward half.

Look back at the GWS game last year we had no Stringer or Crameri, played just about the tallest team we had all year with Boyd, Roughy, Minson, Roberts and Hamling all playing and we smashed them (would've been a bigger win if we kicked straight).

Beveridge is big on versatility, but sometimes we need more players to just play one position (Bont has struggled this year for etc because his onball midfield minutes have dropped and he's playing forward and on the outside a lot also), not fit them all in because "they're playing well"

Please can we quit starting new threads on the same subject about our forwards coach.

Use this thread... Period....

Use this thread... Period....

Can you not use the word "period" in the middle of seven full stops? The only thing more redundant than saying the word "period" at the end of your sentence is typing it. Sorry that this post is very off topic but that just annoys the crap out of me.

More to the point, it annoys the moderators when we continue to see threads started on the same topic week after week. Do us all a favor please and keep the commentary to the one thread.

Couldn't stand him as a footballer

Don't think much of him as a coach

Our players are terrible at generating easy set shots. They are always from 45+ out on 45 degree angles. Get some shots inside 25m. This is still partly on Gia as our forward structure is poor, but the delivery they get hardly results in easy shots that would dramatically increase our accuracy.

How often to we get marks in the goalsquare alone like we continually give up? Or have a 3 on 2 inside 50 resulting in a handball over the top? Pretty much never

Gia got the job coz we couldn't afford anyone else

We have the basis of a very very good team so let's go and get a real forward coach and stop the jobs for mates.

I heard one of our players interviewed on the radio last week, may have been Matty Boyd, who said that we're entitled to train on the Docklands surface a few times a year but choose not to do so.

I would take those sessions and practice the s**t out of goalkicking from all angles.
