No I didn't, totally irrelevant to me what the AW guys said. In any case the tone and context was different to how the MMM discussion went. We all know Maguire uses his media role to push his Collingwood agendas and vendettas. Nothing wrong with that I suppose but he must also cop the shit that comes his way when there's a conflict and screw up.
What most concerned me was the president, the leader of the football club i follow being part of a trashy on air discussion that should never have happened. Brayshaw made a fool of himself and embarrassed the club. He should be beyond that type of rubbish. This is what happens when you have 2 important roles that have the potential to clash, which sadly did on this occasion and will again no doubt.

I'm not being over-dramatic. No crime has been committed, but the AFL gets a lot of mileage from these social policies and the comments were clearly in breach.

The AFL loses any credibility in preaching to me or anyone else on social issues by not handing out a punishment under the code.

I don't think that is even the main issue except that young boys hearing it might think it's funny and form a view on the dynamics between men and women because they hear grown men laughing that the best way to shut a woman up is to treat her with contempt.

But the reality of the situation is that it was straight out bullying. A group of dickheads revving each other up and the taste of vitriol becoming stronger each second. It was just distasteful. Each time I hear it, I cringe because it got more and more pointed and I can't fathom how they didn't realise how it escalated into something distasteful.

Then somehow you are tying in my throwaway line about prison overcrowding to Eddie's gaffe. Take a breath.

As for PC leftie whackos, I've been on all sides of PC debates. I've felt the need to educate myself over the years as I didn't get it either most of the time. Let's just say I am more anti-bully than I am pro-political correctness. I'm more about taking a walk in someone else's shoes before you make a song and a dance about petty freedoms being taken away. I'm more about reserving some wriggle room for understanding rather than going full bore at an issue.

As a young kid I can still remember comments about women, thought they were funny at the time, maybe they were, but it was always as women being the 'enemy', the 'opposition' words to that effect, which whilst humourous in some contexts if it's back and forth and you're willing to cop their version of men, a young kid will take on board what they feel they identify with. The little buggers drink it all in and form opinions because of it.

His job at Fox is held up as some sort of media hypocrisy. If he is a changed man, then he can only be a good example of making the most of second chances. If Eddie and co can drop the macho boy's club crap and make a real difference, rather than pay lip service to it, they too will get past this and get credit for the changes.

Having seen the Tiges go through SOS, I was outraged at his arrogance, but the hosts of the radio show (footy people, can't remember who) never pulled him up once, and even said how amazing he was after the interview was done.

Almost can't blame the guy when he's surrounded by so many matesy yes-men. Could easily blunt your capacity for self-reflection.

Nonsense. The woman went public with criminal allegations which were found to be false, the fallout from which is all over your posting. The club had little choice but to call in the police after she'd made the claims on TV. She's damn lucky she wasn't sued off the face of the planet.

Caroline Wilson is a successful female journalist in a career that is extremely male dominated. If anything she has added to "80+ year work that real feminists have done".

Something can have sexist overtones without requiring it to be co-opted by the feminazis. What McGuire said was out of line in any era, in civilised countries at least, with or without a feminist movement.

McGuire will ride this out. Once again chastened for allowing himself to be part of the boys club rather than being a media commentator and the president of a large sporting club. The bloke isn't a fool, he just forgets that his public persona has to be different from private consumption.

You would think the number of times he has been derided for going too far, that he would have developed an inbuilt filter.

The thing is, he does a lot of good. The fights he takes on against non VIC clubs, whilst unpopular to many, has been to the advantage of all Victorian clubs. Not many want to fight the fight, but he takes them on. And some

You missed the point. She got into the public sphere then declared herself incapable of surviving it due to her gender.

Look at what the Sun says about Bill Shorten on a daily basis. Look at the kind of insults levied at Trump whenever he is mentioned in The Age. If you honestly think jokes about drowning or black widows are worse than what plenty of other public figures experience all the time, you clearly don't read any papers.
