Anyone else getting Jack Steven vibes?

Moved a lot like Shawn Burgoyne but with a little more pace from the stoppage and less composure.

Agree with you that Simpson seems to like good ball users but I am not sure Gallucci fits that brief. Write ups on Gallucci is that the jury is out on his foot skills. Good but overstated by many. I spent 10 years in Melbourne so got to know some of the people behind the Avatars and people who really follow the games and not just read stats and read other people's views. Pity we did not play Vic Metro in Perth as I only got to see Vic Metro boys on TV. You miss a lot by only watching a telecast.

Gallucci's downside is he is seen as inconsistent, failing to be damaging with his foot skills, not sticking tackles, kicking looks great but too few many of his passes end up in scores, etc. There are positives but way too many negatives to be seen as elite and there are enough elite in the first round to think WCE will not fall into this trap. The other concern is that he really has not made a position his own (a little bit like Tom Lamb). A bit of a outside mid, half back, occasional inside mid. As you probably can guess, I am not keen on him as a 1st round pick. OK as a second round but not elite at anything to be considered 1st round material.
whats your thoughts on Liam Ryan. Just saw someone on the DTFA board say that ryan will go undrafted. Knightmare has good wraps on him. I have seen a couple of subi games and he seems impressive. seems raw but does lack a defensive games (purely based on the couple of games i have seen). But he seems like a forward you want to complement JK and JD.

Ok, so about all this Rory Lobb talk. These are the big questions in my mind (apologies if they have already been discussed).

1. GWS don't want him to go and are going to play hardball. What would it take to get him? Which picks/players would we trade?
2. Do we even have enough in our salary cap to go after him? Figures floating around the media are $700K+ per year. We already have Nic Nat on a large salary.
3. When Nic Nat eventually comes back... what would we do with Lobb? The only place he could really go would be the forward line, but that might make us top heavy with a resting ruckman also? Maybe Darling would need to move out and into the midfield?
700k

90% of Hawthorns 4 time premiership AA players aren't on that.

**** that he's worth 400-500k tops. Eddie Betts is on 500k FFS. No way Lobb is gonna kick 50 goals or help create 50 of them.

JOM is done. Knees are bone on bone weren't they?
Rocky is a fat ball hog.
Ballers, Barlow. No just no.
Minson, Cloke, Petrie, Clark. :drunk:
These muppets can't even back up a single game in teams with shit rucks (-Goldy) let alone Lycett for 22 rounds.
Plus Nic can out jump all four of them combined. They are not the answer. Would rather go hard for a talent like Lobb then waste a rookie pick on any of that lot.

I'd be interested in Boomer as you get him for nothing and he doesn't miss games, HFF/FP. Good for 30 goals and a midfield rotation.
Lobb. CHF/CHB. He plays back, Gov goes forward. He plays forward and Darling moves up the ground Nick Riewoldt style and up the wings with his 90m I50 hand passes.

Pepper Powell looked good but I'd need more than 90 seconds of footage to form a proper opinion on him. Looks like the type we need but would never draft.

So nothing like Shaun Burgoyne at all?
No very Burgoyne like where he meets the ball and his movement through the pack, just raw and eager to run with it which is consistent with U18's. Don't get to play on 60m from goals in the AFL.

different people view him diffeently. I have seen someone compare him to steven and chappy. I see a bit of dusty and dangerfield about him.

just no. Take gov from our defence and then it goes from elite to just above average. barrass is at least a couple of seasons away from doing what gov does. If Emac is able to recapture his form and barrass goes up a few notches, then gov can go forward.

You do realise that how many goals a player kicks in a season is not the sole determining factor in how good a player they are right?

I rather we blood in a karpany, tunbridge or play someone like SPP (if we get him), than have harvey. Theres a a strong chance that we might be a contender next season and after that we might even fall off. We need to blood kids at the same time as we are contending. Like simmo said earlier in the year, we need have one eye on the future.

You are arguing exactly what I posit but you do not recognise that none of our so called unblooded types are playing specialist forward role at afl level at present.

Playing Harvey does not stop the drafting or development of these players.

Age biased standpoint from incorrigible fans. I want to win a premiership not romanticise about players that may not even make it in the afl system

Boomer's completely done, not playing on.

The thing about Powell-Pepper is his eagerness and hunger for the ball, which we lack. As he already has good game sense, getting him would go a long way to addressing our midfield concerns. While his kicking is a bit of a problem, that can easily be fixed.

Lobb went back against us and out Gov'd the Gov.

Moving Gov forward with Lobb back there with Barrass, Shep, Schofield is perfectly fine.

Harvey will not help us win a flag.

He is a finisher, not the grunt.

We don't require anymore of these types, age notwithstanding.

He may provide flashes of brilliance, sure. But that won't help us get back to the final Saturday in September. It's just poppycock.

This is what I'm getting from the whole situation. If Simmo got in his ear and he was happy to come over for a year and only cost us a rookie pick, I'd be pretty happy with that outcome.

Sorry but this is one of the stupidest conversations I've been involved in on this forum and that's saying something. If you would seriously rather waste a list spot on an old man than on a player who could potentially be on the list for 10 years then I'm really glad you're not one of our list managers, and I don't rate them to begin with.

It is stupid because your mind gate is seized shut.

Your preconceptions and bias clouds your critical thinking skills.

Yet you offer no considerable options for immediate significant improvement.
