nah nothing on the hawks board. its been kept very tight lip which is what he wanted. but the treatment goes for a year, so we are just presuming it means next year isn't on the books.

They are two complete different scenarios. One was a kid who had real outside problems. This guy just has no confidence....and thats what we will give him. he is worth the punt

Yeah righto.... The compo pick would be higher than that. The issue isn't really what we want for him. The issue is at what price will RFC not match an offer. If you are actually after TV and you want him, then you'll probably pay for him.... either in contract dollars or a draft pick that encourages RFC not to match.

It's clear we don't have KPP depth and we might decide that TV is better than Elton, Griff, C.Moore and Chol.... which is why the Hawks may need to pay overs in terms of either contract dollars/length or offer a first round draft pick.... The Hawks need to ensure RFC think they are getting decent compo or we'll just keep him.

Players quite frequently go to teams who have played crap.... Look at Melb, Carl, Bris. Beams, Dyson, Vince, Christensen, Bugg, Robinson, Wright are all examples of half decent players who went to these clubs when they were crap (or are crap).

I know today was ugly but after this season, who really gave a flying rats arse about it. I fully expected us to lose by 80+, most reasonable football people would have as well. Last game in a season where we have missed the finals after 3 years in them in a row. The last 6 weeks games have been given to guys who aren't ready. Got to be hard for the senior guys to get up over the last 2 months...

I'd get him as a fitness/development coach. Unless you think recruiting a 39 year old will push us into premiership contention?

You can lock this in though. If the deal offered won't secure RFC at least 2nd band compo (which will be pick 25 this year), then he won't be leaving. Personally I don't want him here. He'll do better at the Hawks. Without adequate compensation (2nd band compo would be the absolute lowest) he won't be going anywhere. Once the offer is made, then it is up to RFC to match it or not. If we do, then we can trade him...

Not saying we do, but if we get Balme in he can strong arm footy operations in RFC favour finally hopefully!!

Don't know enough about the situation but from afar, and reading up a bit of history, Dan Richardson can step aside, Balme, come in end of home and away, use his experience, not take shit like others have , straighten some dickheads out if need be and get the house in order so RFC's footy interests are being looked after long term!!

He can look at things independently and benchmark it to the Pies experience and Geelong experience he had and put in place and recommend what needs to be adjusted hopefully! At least change will be good, refresh things and stir the cronies pot!!

An unstable board, an incompetent FD, a head coach who is clearly not up to it and a losing culture that extends 3 decades. Add this to the fact that the team is light years away from a flag and you would have to be crazy or desperate to sign on. And btw I couldn't give a shit what the other clubs you mentioned are doing.

Sure just saying there is no guarantee, but the runs are on board for the hawks. AFAIK, you cant match it, then force a trade unless the player still wants. Most likely they threaten to match it, which forces a trade.

As I've said, it's never as bad or as good as it seems.

Board is stable.... far too stable. That's the issue. Losing culture had started to be turned around in the last 3 years. We hadn't had 3 winning seasons consecutively in my lifetime before the last 3. Things can turn around very quickly in both directions. Ask Freo, Geel, Port, WCE, Coll. Hell ask Norf about this season. I'm no panic merchant. Things always change. Hopefully for us, they change quickly.

Big off-season coming up followed by an even bigger pre-season. I'm looking forward to it.

Na , Dal Santo is over the hill IMO, Petrie is to, and Firrito to.

Id only entertain Petrie as a cheap backup for a year if he wanted to go around but Boomer definitely can play on, he is a freak.

Harvey is not the player he was but he is still better than nearly half the players going around in the seniors and a valued pickup in terms of leadership, experience, composure! Harvey is one of the few players with a footy brain and still has his speed making good choices its immeasurable helping the young on field. We do not have enough good decision makers and Boomer would help with that as well as attacking confidence.

Actually, forget Petrie, unlike Boomer, he is too far gone to watching him tonight!

I thought Tomlinson was better tonight even though he did not get much of it, I still think he could develop. Like Rance I am not putting a line through him yet!

I thought I had made my point quite clear. The board is stable. I am talking about forced movement of people on the board. There has been bugger all.... hence stable. Nothing to do with whether they are doing a decent job or not. Stable they definitely are. Don't worry about our finals record right at the moment. You have to make finals to win them and that is something we could only do once a decade for a while. We upped that, couldn't bag a finals win and have unsurprisingly had a bit of a let down. Making back to back finals isn't something this club has done frequently for a long time through much/most of our history. To defy that and do it three times in a row WITHOUT winning one must be pretty demoralising. It seemed to have sucked some of the enthusiasm out of the boys from the first NAB cup game and it was missing still in round 1.....

No quick easy fix. There can be a quick turnaround but it needs to be through the trade season, the draft, the football department including recruiting, strength and conditioning, coaching and development. It needs to be bought into by everyone at the club. The board, the football department, the admin, the players and the volunteers. The supporters will buy in at some point, we always do.... I've spent most of my Richmond supporting life being able to sit wherever I want at the footy.....until we win 3 in a row and then everyone turns up and has these big expectations. 3 weeks later I can sit where I want again. I get it but it doesn't worry me. RFC people want success and at the hint of it they will turn up. When it gets squashed (again) many of them bugger off again. A defense mechanism, a coping strategy... Call it whatever. It is fair enough.

The RFC will rise again. Hopefully it's in 2017.
