Yep, Shred is critical to the midfield. Smart, capable player who makes good decisions and his skills are getting back where they were slowly. I've been saying all season that he's a key to the midfield - just plays a critical role in transitioning from contested to uncontested, very much in the Simon Black role.

Loving the kicking on the right too!

57% of the time he disposes of it effectively everytime.

Sheed is still a preseason away from being able to win his own ball on a consistent basis. Due to his injury he doesn't seem strong enough to break tackles or even shrug them off. Im not trying to be negative but tackling/defensive pressure is something he needs to work on as well.

Yeah he's no inside bull just yet.

Probably similar to where he was at the end of last year physically. I dont think the impact of his pec injury and then knee injury should be under estimated.

Either way it is hard to argue against our midfield looking much stronger with Sheed finding some form.

If we can put a fit group of Pridda, Shuey, Redden and Sheed around the ball next year I think we will all be surprised at how effective they will be. Lycett is developing well and if Giles can embrace his chance to play a season of seniors we will be more competitive than this year against the stronger midfield groups.

Redden will be a contested bull with a preseason and once he hits the weights and puts on 9-8 kegs.
Not sure about the kegs but definitely needs a preseason and one less hernia. A year learning the gameplan won't hurt too - gotta remember he's coming from Brisbane so he's only just learning what a gameplan is.

Personally I reckon that like Wellingham he will turn out to be just fine for the price we paid - won't be a steal but we'll get what we paid for.

Considering how well Sheed has come back from injuries, does this put to bed the Redden not having a preseason argument?
no and yes. redden has been pathetic and certain aspects cannot be excused. sheed was out for a long time but for his pec injury he would have got to build his fitness base (kinda a preseason) over a couple of moths. Being predominantly an outside player all he needs is to have a good fitness base. redden is a pure inside player not only has he not had enough time building his fitness base, but he also has lost muscle which is very important for an inside mid. That being said, he should have been a bit better than what he has served up.
