Yeah, I'm really hopeful that we get Kerr.I will be disappointed if we don't draft Kerr. I think he looks more likely than either of Casboult or Jones
Anyone have any #bluemours on how we feel about Kerr?

I agree there is a huge opportunity to get Boyd, but the issues are:
1. Is Boyd any good? I think he is developing OK, has great size and agility and can kick, so will prove very good - but the jury is out and the expectations of a #1 draft pick to be an instant star hurt peoples perceptions of Boyd.
2. Has the game changed so big forwards are less important? Hawthorn have shown that no KPF can work, but can they win key finals without a Dominant Big man?
If we think Boyd makes sense for CFC as we need a dominant big man and it fits our game plan then...
3. How do we manage the salary. Boyd's management unlikely to reduce $$$ size of contract so the Dogs will have to pay at least 25%?
4. What are we prepared to trade? Would Kreuzer and KJ be fair, as they need a mature ruck and a developing KPD, and are we prepared to lose them?
Dogs made a bad trade in terms of creating list pressure, do we help them out and why?
I won't be disappointed so long as it's pick 41I will be disappointed if we don't draft Kerr. I think he looks more likely than either of Casboult or Jones

It is a draft so even if we were committed to him it still leaves him open to any club taking him. As for not attending any draft camps, unless a club nominates him to attend he will not get invited.Ok, finally I have an actual rumour...
The source is probably completely unreliable, but it's a rumour nonetheless.
I just got home from a function, There was a quite intoxicated man there who took quite a liking to MrsCoach16. As I was "saving" her, he struck up a conversation with me. Mumbled and splattered something about having "contacts at Carlton"....
Immediately I thought BF! After a little persuasion, he told me there's a kid we're getting at the draft. Both the club and the boy are Already committed. Apparently, the club told him to NOT attend any draft camps, keep a low profile, etc and they would definitely pick him up...
Not sure where the boy is from, or even where he's playing. But supposedly an onballer who wins his own footy.
Goes by the name "Cam Poulson".
Does anyone know this name or heard of this kid?
Reckon we get in early and give 49 back to them, which they can simply on-trade in a fair swap to the filth for Choke.
Easy done.
If he was invited to the National Combine then a club must have nominated him.Cameron Polson is an interesting one, a whole 3cm taller than Nathan Hrovat, he made the Vic Metro squad but didn't play and is also one of the 80 kids invited to the National Combine.
He spends a fair amount of time at the Dragons running around with McGrath too, which is interesting with us having pick 5.
The intoxicated, hairy man didn't say he wasn't invited. He said the club told him not to attend...If he was invited to the National Combine then a club must have nominated him.
Everyone will know about him tomorrow once Barrett reads this....It is a draft so even if we were committed to him it still leaves him open to any club taking him. As for not attending any draft camps, unless a club nominates him to attend he will not get invited.
A good rumour though which means now others will know about him.
Because Redpath won't be around for most of the year and I still believe you need at least one focal marking target, particularly in September.
That said, another strong showing from Boyd tonight might change their interest.
Cam Poulson (Vic Metro) is invited to AFL Draft combines in October. It is a draft so even if we were committed to him it still leaves him open to any club taking him. As for not attending any draft camps, unless a club nominates him to attend he will not get invited.

I can't see Kruezer being a part of any trade after last year's debacle but I think the dogs would definitely want high draft picks.
We don't have much available in the areas that they need, ie KPD or ruckman, so IF it went ahead, we would have to get creative with player swaps and on-trading with other clubs.
Maybe an opportunity to trade future picks and include Hrovat in the deal?
Boyd stood up against the WCE last week so I doubt that KJ would be a big part of the deal.
If we get Boyd, would that stifle the development of McKay?
We would have Casboult, McKay, Jones, KJ? Boyd? Silvagni (bulked up after another pre-season) and Charlie.
They are not all KPF but I think that our ruck/midfield division would have to improve significantly before we can field a tall forward line like that.
Maybe we would be better off keeping our draft picks and drafting in Kerr, and with a bit of luck and good trade week negotiating - English as well.
Or we could have invited him...The intoxicated, hairy man didn't say he wasn't invited. He said the club told him not to attend...
Please keep in mind, I'd never met this man before and have no idea if he's legit or not. But he went into a lot of detail about the whole thing...
Does anyone know how many clubs have to nominate a player for him to be invited to the Draft combine. I thought it was at least 2-3 clubs and if it is only one then they go to the state screening. If it is more than one then several clubs are looking at this player.Cam Poulson (Vic Metro) is invited to AFL Draft combines in October.
Surely that is draft tampering. The intoxicated, hairy man didn't say he wasn't invited. He said the club told him not to attend...

Have no reason to doubt what your saying TC16 and thanks for posting what you were told, I hope he was just big noting about a kid he happens to know of or something about. The intoxicated, hairy man didn't say he wasn't invited. He said the club told him not to attend...

With all due respect B70....anyone could make that statement.
Is this a fact?
Lots of premature tradeulation going on around here.

If what he is saying is true, The worry would be that sensitive info from "club contacts" finds its way to people who get intoxicated and blurt it out to anyone willing to listen at a function, I thought our club might have been past this stuff.

I was thinking the same, maybe he knows the kid or something and wanted to pump him up a bit.Have no reason to doubt what your saying TC16 and thanks for posting what you were told, I hope he was just big noting about a kid he happens to know of or something about.

Just read somewhere this kid is around 177cm's, we might be trying to rectify the miss of Caleb Daniels....I was thinking the same, maybe he knows the kid or something and wanted to pump him up a bit.
I can't tell you how many times I told people my son was going to play for Carlton...
It was just the amount of detail he went into that got me listening...
whatever happened to Geoff Edelsten?
Used to be three, now it's five.Could be wrong but I seem to remember needing 5 clubs to nominate for an invitation.
