Traded #1 - Jesse Hogan - traded to Freo - #fistedforever

Fk all this talk of taking draft picks for Jesse and some unknown. The guy is contracted for next year, if he asks for a trade we ask for a Darling or Gaff + a 1st rounder or we just keep Jesse and play him for another year and trade him next year. While it's definitely sucky to have a guy who doesn't want to be there the fact that he's contracted means we don't have to just accept a package of picks for him. Freo have NOTHING we want outside of Fyfe, their list is awful!
Dont be fooled by our ladder position, we have some of the best crop of young players in the country : Sheridan, Crozier, balic, apeness, langdon, blakely, tucker, weller etc are all going to be very good players. Lachie neales manager (who is a south australian) believes we are set up for a sustained period of success, when you combine them with Fyfe, bennell, neale, mundy, walters etc. When you are forced play them all at once like we had to this year, it makes it tough.

Jeez you talk shit.

The reason why Balic slid was not because he has a strike (which is completely false btw) it was because he has a serious degenerative wrist injury that was put down as potentially career threatening. Putting injury aside clubs rated him a top 15 player in his draft. Paul Roos rated him highly after watching play with the Tyler the year before. Jason Taylor wanted him too but wasn't willing to risk pick 4 or 9 or him especially with his medical report . If we had a 2nd round pick then i have no doubt we would have jumped straight away.

You are very well known to talking smack on Facebook mfc paged, please don't bring it on here
.

What on earth are you on about?

Bennell is a massive question mark. With his Injury/off field issues will he ever be able to string more then 15 games a year? Personally i also think Mundy is cooked. Should have retired this year.

That's fine that you think you have some good players and i know you won't be replying in this thread since it's MFC only but the thing is none of the players you mentioned fill a positional need for us. Those guys you mentioned are all flankers as far as i can see outside of Apeness who's largely unproven. Your supporters seem to think you can just palm off a bunch of picks and easy to draft flankers for one of the most promising KPF in the last 10-20 years. Those guys you mentioned may or may not become decent players but listwise we are set for flankers and for mids. We could use an Apeness type ruck forward but i haven't seen enough of him to consider him worthy Hogan replacement. From the WA clubs Darling is legitimately the only player who i would be happy to get back in a swap for Jesse at this point while he's still under contract. If Jesse leaves it leaves a gaping hole up forward despite the improvement of Watts and promise of Weideman.

Honestly, stuff their rebuild. That's their problem. We don't have to be accomodating.

100% agree. I'm not looking at it for their benefit but from their point of view. If they're looking to build a talent base then I think they'd give up less than West Coast who are building to win a premiership now. It's my theory at least on why I think we'd get a better deal from the Eagles.

So Balic hasnt played a game yet?

I would take 3 this year, their first next and Balic if it came down to it.

Would prefer to keep Jesse.
I watched balic play in a wafl final today. Fast and sharp skills. Evasive smooth mover that seems to have all the time in the world in tight traffic. Had 27 touches in the first half of footy he has played in a year two weeks back (resies level). He is a player i want at freo for sure.

If we do a shit deal to "help Jesse", IN ANY WAY, I'll quit this club.

We must be ruthless if he doesn't want to play for us..

We've got to tell Freo or west coast: "2 top 5 picks, and a player, nothing less you campaigners".
"Don't have it? Too ******* bad.. Make it work and come back to us once you have"

But instead, I'm sure we'll get something more along the lines of
"Oh, his family member X is sick, he must go back to Perth? Oh ok, we'll swap him for a B grade player.. Oh what's that? Collingwood want to take that B grade player and give us a self-delusional half eaten sandwich? - You Beauty!"

Grow some balls MFC. We owe him absolutely nothing if he won't recommit.

You proposing since he wants to go to Perth we send him to Brisbane?

Another Hogan going to Freo shit fight brewing in here. I'll be on my way then
Also - "My Eyes, the tag does nothing!"

You lost me at Sheridan and Crozier

Why not? They'd take him regardless of his plans once his contract expires.

And here's the thing that shits me- he's not a free agent.
Not even a restricted free agent.

So screw him, he doesn't want to be at Melbourne?* Then that's all we SHOULD care about. We then have 17 other clubs to work out the best deal with for US.

Brisbane would give their left, right and middle nuts for him.

"Oh, but that's not fair on him, it's not where he wants to be" - guess what.. There are thousands of jobs that people do which result in then having to move interstate to a foreign city, give up their lifestyle etc. don't like it? Quit your job and do something else. Hell, if he wants to go to Perth that much, quit AFL and play in the WAFL.

I know this sounds ridiculous, but so does a relatively new "employee" calling all the shots, demanding where they go, all while earning near 7 figures..

Yeah, pretty much this. I sympathise with anybody who has a sick family member and wants to move closer to home to be with them. No problem with that. But this idea that Hogan is entitled to force a deal on his own terms, or even to play AFL, is ridiculous. If we can't get the deal we want, I'm happy to hang him out to dry because it's his own decision whether he goes back to be with his dad. He could play in the WAFL and make a decent living. He wants to have his cake and eat it too. His responsibility is to his dad and his conscience. That is totally within his control. MFC's responsibility is to get the best deal we can, while we can. Ideally, everybody ends up happy, but I'd rather MFC gets what it wants than Hogan gets what he wants. He will be in Perth regardless. His dad will be happy with that. I couldn't care less what happens to Hogan's football career if he leaves.

If we pick up one of Freo's better players and the number 3 pick, I'll be happy for him to go. We don't need him that badly. We can win without him. Look at the Bulldogs - their lineup is practically immune to injuries. We need to develop the team approach and we have a lot of good raw talent to work with for that. If Weideman can put on some muscle, he'll be as good as Hogan, just in a different way.

And you forgot to add one Ross Lyon . . . . . . . . . .

The thing that seems to get lost in all of this with players who want to move is this...

When nominating for the AFL draft and entering into the AFL system, you agree to play by the rules of player movement. If you don't want to play by those rules, there is nothing stopping you from leaving. So in the case of a sick parent or a family issue... there is nothing stopping Hogan breaking his contract, not playing next year and going home to be with his family. The guy earns at least 3 times as much as the average punter, so its not like the kid is going to stave if he stays away from the game for a year to get his home life in order.

He can then nominate for the draft is he wants to come back in. Again, signing on and accepting the AFL rules.

The way the discussion is proceeding, you'd think the AFL has handcuffed them into something. Nobody is forcing players to be or stay anywhere, but you don't get to pick and choose which rules of the comp you want to abode by. The return on this is a salaray most people would kill for.

Its not like non-AFL players have never had to make the hard decision to be away from family. I work in a job that I can only do in certain places, but i choose to do it. And if i need to be with my family, I'll have to give it away. I can't bend my employer over.

Ox thinks he's staying. Says Melbourne are alot more confident now than they were 12 months ago. Having said that from memory he always said Scully would stay too.

Ralph was on and seems to think Melbourne are slowly pushing towards giving an ultimatum as they obviously don't want it to run into next year. He still spoke as if Jesse wanting to move would be a shock to Melbourne.

I'm not really fussed yet. The info coming out is Hogan has family in Perth, father may be ill, Freo interested (well duh) and Eagles interested (well duh) none of which comes as an extrodinary surprise. And it's getting another vigorous run because it's silly season and trade time and this is when this stuff gets talked about. I am starting to think we will know sooner rather than later, but I could be just vibing that like everyone else on this subject.

He actually said something more like Melb would feel better about him leaving now than they would have 12 months ago, didn't really mention he was anymore or less confident he was staying.
Wow, absent over the weekend and have walked in to find a 6 page sh*t-storm in here with eggs from every ******* club giving their opinion.
Put it to him this trade period you are either with us now or you're gone, play WC and Freo off against each other with 2 x 1st round picks and a player as our desired compo. Don't **** around Dees, he gets to where he gets to and we put our foot down and get what we want.
