I think he would be good as he can play in the KPD role and can give cover for Davis.
Fair enough
I just dont see tall backs as a priority. Himmelburg has to have a spot found for him at some point and Corr is a KPD by nature. If you think he is front of them it makes sense to me. If Barass was on the table I'd say go for it and hang the expense.

Talk this morning is that there is a proposed 3 way deal in the works with McCarthy moving to Fremantle, Ballantyne moving to West Coast and Eric Mackenzie joining the Giants.

Apparently we are heavily into 2014 West Coast Club Champion Mackenzie.

I'd love this to happen as Mackenzie would give us some good depth down back but West Coast apparently want some more.

Out of curiousity, is this talk anywhere other than BF?

MacKenzie is top shelf KPD. He came back last year from an ACL, and seemed to struggle to get back into the Weagles backline. At 28 he still has a couple of good years ahead of him, so would be a good addition for us. If he was to recapture 13/14 form, he would put a tonne of pressure on Tommo and definetly keep out Corr. Wonder what Mohr does if this comes off, as he would not see a way back into the AFL side? I also wonder what 'Easy' thinks of leaving WA for few years?

Connors on Hoskin-Elliott: "There's a likelihood that Will would look to come back to Melbourne. He's contracted but it could happen if the planets align. There's a salary cap squeeze at the Giants".

So I take that as Will is gone.

My take was that he was likely to go ... the only aspect requiring haggling was the trade price to Collingwood. Connors emphasised the GWS salary cap squeeze, and that WHE had another year of contract so could stay. Perhaps I'm reading too much into it, but almost seemed to say 'if GWS don't let him go they have to carry his salary for another year'. Depending on how true the TPP squeeze is, WHE may go for less than we Giants' fans think he's worth.

Not convinced, all Corr has done is get injured and play himself back in via the NEAFL.He was looking pretty gòod early in the year. I'm not an expert on WC players but have watched some games on TV. All opinion I get. Just dont want to trade someone in, and probably someone out as a result unless there's a real benefit.

My view on MacKenzie is if he is not best 22 at the eagles why would he be best 22 at the Giants. Not worth the agitation of our younger KPDS.

Is there a better alternative in the McCarthy trade? If we bring in any other mature talent, Breust for example, we agitate our younger players. It isn't smart list building to ignore the chance to bring in mature talent. Easy is a big upgrade on Mohr as far as I am concerned. Would hate to see Mohr go, but thems the breaks. I reckon Eagles are taking a big risk in trading out MacKenzie.

Does it matter if younger guys are irritated tho? If the player we bring in is best 22 and makes the team better....

Yep, Im pro MacKenzie acquisition. Nothing makes me more paranoid than injuries to our key defenders and it happens every year!

From Jon Pierek in Fairfax (http://www.watoday.com.au/afl/afl-n...lton-defender-zach-tuohy-20161003-grttp1.html):

Talks between the Blues and Greater Western Sydney for defender Caleb Marchbank are yet to significantly advance with the deal likely to involve an exchange of first-round draft picks and players. Carlton's pick No. 5 appears certain to be involved in the deal with the issue being what level of compensation comes back to Carlton along with Marchbank in that exchange. The Giants' first round pick is currently 15 but they also have Collingwood's first round pick (7) that was traded as part of the Adam Treloar deal last year. If the deal involved pick 5 for 15 and Marchbank, Carlton would want another GWS player to sweeten the deal. Who that is and the quality of the player is where negotiations will centre.

Giants midfielder Will Hoskin-Elliott has told the club he wants to be traded to Collingwood. Hoskin-Elliott, pick 4 in the 2011 draft, has played just two senior games this season and is contracted to the Giants next year for more than $400,000.

List manager Jason McCartney has indicated Giants forward James Stewart has been offered a one-year deal to remain at the Giants and is happy to remain unless a better deal comes up elsewhere. The son of former Collingwood and Richmond forward Craig, he managed only one game this season.

Jack Steele has yet to decide if he will remain at the Giants or pursue St Kilda's offer. Steele was pick 24 in the 2014 draft and is out of contract but he Giants are prepared to offer him a new deal if he wants to stay.
