I just read an absolutely heartbreaking post from my cousin on Facebook.

Her little boy died of SIDS and she has written in painstaking detail her last twenty-four hours with him, from every time he smiled his cheeky beautiful smile to eating his favourite bowl of coco pops to saying goodnight to him for the last time before finding him not breathing in the morning and screaming, pleading to not have him taken away from her and hoping it's a nightmare and imagining herself to wake up any second seeing himfull of life again.

I hate that some people have to go through this sort of thing. Losing a child, especially when so young. I couldn't imagine anything worse on the world. I'm worried for my cousin. I hope she'll be ok and I know she has a lot of love and support.

Reading it, I just felt so moved by her beautiful, devastating words and had to indulge in a moment of selfishness where I hoped this would never happen to me.

If anything, it's taught me life is excruciatingly short and we simply must appreciate every single second spent with our loved ones.

Sorry for the downer but in this world of first world problems and stuff, something like this is a real eye opener to those of us that think we have it tough.

That was my worst nightmare when my boys were babies. I couldn't imagine the pain of a parent who experiences that.

I don't mind the curved handle, but I didn't pick it out, my Mum did. Yeah, shut up. There was a reason for it.

I got absolutely drenched from the carpark to the office one morning and I messaged Mum saying I hate the rain, and told her I got absolutely drenched. You know how mothers can be, so she told me she was going to buy me an umbrella as soon as she had a spare bit of time between meetings. She asked me what colour I wanted, so I told her.

45 minutes later she rocked up to my desk, with a shopping bag from DJ's (which contained a fresh business shirt and a towel) in one hand, a coffee in the other hand (to keep me warm), a new brolly tucked under one arm and her brolly tucked under the other arm.

Absolute legend.
