Ashcroft & SOS are the biggest campaigners to deal with during the trade period. Both have Dodoro covered in the campaigner department. Every year these campaigners hold up other trades with their campaigner tactics. Absolute campaigners.

You do realise just like in any sport you use the term "starting on the field/court" to show the value of said player compared to bench player?
It's pretty irrelevant in AFL though as the bench is usually filled with mids ready for rotations… If Armo starts on the bench it doesn't reflect that he is the 19th+ valued player in the side.

They left a 3Qtr time or shortly after. Of 6 Haw supporters sitting in from of me, only one stayed to applaud the team that had delivered them three premierships in a row off the ground.

Yes they were disappointed the run was over but how about recognising what a successful side they have been. And now they'll never see Mitchell or Lewis in Hawks colours again. Hope they get some wood for their trophy cabinet next year.
I can just imagine the AFL coming in to save there arse and screw our future pick...

I would actually trade Armo while he is still young and hold currency. He's a bash and crash player who's body is likely to let him down in a few years. GC want players, so trade him to GC for a top 10 pick?

I agree, it would make me sad to see him go, but you need to be ruthless, and if it got a top 10 pick...

So with nothing going on probably until tomorrow, what numbers do you want to see Steele, Stevens, Brown in?

21,26 possibly 4,25,30,35 available?

Give Steele the 4 if paddy doesn't want it I reckon.

Campaigners gunna campaign

If we'd known that Port were about to throw away their 2017 first for so little in return I wonder if we might have tried to trade one of our 2017 firsts and our 2 2nd rounders this year for some picks that would have trumped the 19 and 30 they got for it, so that we could get it ourselves?

Eg. trade our 2017 first and 23 and 36 this year for picks like 15, 18 and 27 and then offer Port 18 and 27 for their 2017 first and then we'd have 15, a possibly top 6 pick in next year's draft (Port's) and Hawthorn's 2017 first.

Then trade Hawthorn's 2017 first or Port's first for one or more first rounders this year. Giving us at least two firsts this year and a first next year.

Relax. We can't screw every team every year.

Apparently we are looking at trading 23&36 with GWS for pick 13 if that goes from Adelaide, to Carlton to Giants. About 100 extra points for GWS and we keep our future first.

Effectively traded down 3 picks for a future first rounder.

I could live with that, especially if we've got our eyes set on a specific player a la Gresh last year, but it means we're out of the second round. Thought we wanted to have a pick there.

I think at this stage because we have got so much depth on our list now, we should be going for quality over quantity. So I would feel happy with trading a couple of higher picks (maybe 23 and 36) for a top 10 draft pick.
