Settle down kids. Lyons is easily replaceable by a number of mids on our list. We now have an ok pick, 43 in a super deep draft. We also have a first round pick around the same mark we used to get Talia, Lever and Smith. Given the runs on the board our recruiting team has, I'm totally fine with that.

I would have liked Gibbs, good player. But Gibbs does not equal premiership. Don't be so naive. He was contracted, Carlton didn't want him to go, so they put a price on his head that they knew we wouldn't pay. Not the club's fault. Suck it up and move on.

I still think we can win the flag next year.

What else was on offer? No one wanted Rockliff - that tells you something. The other mids all pretty much went to Victoria and no where else. What are we supposed to do about that?

Glad we set our price and walked away.

If Gibbs really wanted to move, he could have been more public and moved the process along. He was silent and he is the one that has to deal with the outcome.

At least we have reasonable cash to roll forward for free agents next year and still think we can pick up Gibbs much cheaper next year.

Not overly disappointed about Gibbs or Lyons specifically, but disappointed we haven't improved our 22.

It's fine to look to the draft and develop or whatever, but if that takes 3 years to peak we've got Tex, Rory etc at about 30 years old, and lost some (possibly Betts) in the meantime.

We need to make a jump while these guys are peaking, huge need for the SANFL players to take the next step, and more, in 2017.

So you move on and get something else done. This is an absolute farce.

But what if you didn't WANT anything else? It's ridiculous to say "we should have made things happen..." Truly... you don't just DO things because other people are doing them - you do things that you believe will make you a stronger team. Some of these trades today are hilarious. Almost as if they did them for the sake of them. If we got Gibbs for a reasonable price, fair enough. We didn't in the end, because they wanted too much. Nothing else obviously floated our boat.

Our midfield are all under 26? They will be better than last season for sure.

Were proven to be not good enough this year in finals. Did you even watch the Sydney game?
Other teams have improved their lists, we have not.
I'm kinda glad we didn't pay overs for Gibbs, but to trade Lyons for unders AND not target other players is piss poor.
