Mate, we traded completely out of the second round next year and retained a disgruntled 27 year old player who would (at a minimum) rather play elsewhere.
We were asking for 2 x 1sts apparently. That's an insanely OTT request.
We could have traded back into the second next year AND picked up 13 this year AND scored a ton more cash for F/A next year.
Hey it really depends on how you spin it.
13 for Gibbs plus junk (lyons) or a third rounder is not okay.
They used his family situation as leverage to orchestrate a situation where they would have to play overs for a player still contracted for 3 years.
again, not okay.
We dont have anyone to cover Gibbs position - not in the slightest.
I'd say we have broken even.

I am chill.
We were asking for 2 x 1sts. They were offering a 1st and a 3rd. The obvious middle ground is a 1st and a 2nd.
That buys us back into the 2nd round next year AND an extra pick at 13 this year.
We just sabotaged our rebuild to retain a disgruntled player who would rather be elsewhere. It was a shocking move by the club, and I'm incredibly disappointed by our (reported) hardnosed approach.
And he won the longest kick comp on GF day.

I'm relieved, grateful, ecstatic and emotional about him staying.
I know he has his detractors, and maybe sometimes he deserves a whack. But I get very attached to certain players, Gibbs struck a chord with me from day one and I couldn't be happier that he's staying...

Honestly I don't think Bryce himself has ever had an issue with the club. He better get over this and get to work, rather then sulk. But I think he'll be okay.
His partner will have to make do as well but apparently the club will help where need be with travel or whatever.
