I agree with you but I'll tell you what the lesson he really needs to learn. It's the same one that we've all learnt: That it's us v the rest! They're all campaigners out to intimidate a young man who has made a stupid error. "Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw etc
No doubt about that - the media bias in this state is astonishing. If a Crows fan had thrown a banana at one of our guys in the last Showdown, the headline would have read, "POWER FORWARD STEALS CROWS FAN'S DINNER." :)

So now Impey is being compared to a notorious killer :)

KT said they had been drinking all day? Sorry...Running from a crash scene is a crime. I'm a supporter of this club but hardly drinking and driving.. there's more to it than just this accident..pissweak penalty for a club that admitted they wanted to raise the standards over preseason.

I think the bigger question is, was the ban on PAFC66 fair?

Was a day off too lenient?

Life ban too harsh?

Probably somewhere in between I'd have thought..

Much of the media appears to have little conscience and social media is extremely ugly :( I know it's their job, but they seem to deal a lot in innuendo. I sometimes wonder how some reporters sleep at night. Impey has been drawn and quartered over and over again. They seem to want to totally destroy him, and what is left of his family, and the club while they're at it.

I resent Impey for bringing all of this shit on us and the club, not the media - though they push it they wouldn't have had the chance if not for him. He had damn well better put in some serious hard yards.

The most galling thing is that the next time one of the Pride of SA players makes a similar stuff-up (and it's only a matter of when, not if), we will have to hold our tongues or appear like hypocrites. One small consolation will be pointing out the glaring difference in the media treatment of their next stuff-up.

Not something that worries them.

They will laugh in our face about the media. They are so insecure that without the media bias and complicity they would fall in a massive heap, they are weak as p***.

Exactly. So the media are a little bit harder on us than our rivals. That's no secret. The players would notice some of the bias that exists against us. So be it - act accordingly. Don't
draw unwanted attention to yourself publicly when you're a well known figure in a pissant town. It's not that hard.

Let the media dribble their hate campaign against us. It simply adds to the hated of those who do not follow us in the first place and those who pretend to support, but are trolls in disguise. There is truly only one remedy. Win a hell of a lot of games next year. Do that and all these issues are then reported as being motivating factors.

Remember how the unsubstantiated rumours about Boak and Hartlett played out for weeks in the media earlier this year. The China move has been ridiculed and vilified continually since its announcement. Every wrong step the club takes is magnified and reinforced by the SA media. As sure as day there must be a well organised machine pulling the media strings in this State. One that is determined to do as much damage to our club as possible, be it the SANFL or some other nefarious entity. There is NO way that the crers receive the same scrutiny, they are perpetually painted as the nice boys with fantastic culture (strange they lose so many good players though) Even that galoot twit at their helm is just described as a 'good bloke' having a laugh whenever he makes his stupid ignorant comments. And I thought Putin was the only one with a media monopoly.

Did 'Good Bloke' Hodgey get all these articles and criticism when he got done drink driving?

Its beyond a ****ing joke. A man who recently lost his father is being compared to a killer. How bloody classy.

Yeah but the fact of the matter is that Jars now owes the club a debt (no, I'm not talking about money). He's let a helluva lot of people down, and he'll need to do plenty of hard yards to regain everybody's faith in him. Surely he understands that, if he were to step out of line like this again, his future at Alberton would look very bleak indeed.

I've been surprised by the coverage this story has received in Melbourne given its relative importance in the scheme of things. Ch7 news ran stories on consecutive days, mainly in the first 15 minutes not in the sports segment. But to be fair most stories involving an AFL footballer doing something wrong get a lot of coverage here. One advantage in living in Victoria. It's a lot easier to ignore the biased media reporting against Port in SA (expect when I read through the Shakes Head thread).

I'm sure this incident has been a big wake-up call for Jarman. He comes across as someone who'll learn from this mistake.

The only decent think-piece to be written about this would be how the legal system tends to treat football 'stars' more leniently than others. But that would have to await a judicial outcome here and require analysis of the relatively lenient treatment of players from the other mob. So, it won't be written.

And Hawks would happily pick him up and then he'd be considered a good bloke.

Four articles again today in the 'Tiser. Unbelievable.

It has been done by ABC yesterday, exactly that subject, that footballers get off too easily. Funny how this all comes out when it's a Port player who will face the courts next.

Nah instead he got puff pieces from the footy experts & his mates like David King about how any amount of game suspension would be too harsh a penalty similar to when he rammed Chad's head into the point post, hypocrisy at it's finest.

No doubt Jars stuffed up but it's been massive overkill from the rabid media, from pitching tents on Gus' property to ambushing the players at training you wonder why these people can't do similar to actual criminals considering there are far worse things happening at the moment in this state that are being downplayed.

I'm all for Impey getting punished, I'm all for Impey having to front the media, I'm all for Impey having to atone for his actions........ but this shit is starting to get ridiculous. It's like Alex_is_on_fire finally moved out of his mothers basement and got a job at The Advertiser, they should try reporting on the facts instead of this conspiracy theory riddled witch hunt.

Not surprising really you only need to see who Ali Clarke, the presenter of the program this subject was raised on, is married to

Is that the same Ali Clarke that used to be a Football Writer for The Advertiser?

I'd forgotten she was on ABC 891. Fortunately I only listen to ABC RN.
