funny thing is we would have the cap space for both if we sign dusty to 800-900k

collingwood seem to think they are in the running for dusty when CLEARLY they have more players on huge contracts

If any half decent team had them both they automatically elevate to become a contender. We saw the difference one superstar can make to a team last year with Geelong. But if you retain Martin you won't be having the cap space to land Fyfe though sorry. I actually think it will be a big call for your club.. which way you go will depend on where you think you're at. Two first rounders and a big chunk of cap space freed up if you want to rebuild... or a genuine superstar locked in if you think you've got the list to make use of it.

I thought Cloke was non negotiable in 2012 too from a pies supporter point of view. I wanted us to just throw everything at him to keep him which in the end is what we did. That was actually a bad call considering what we could have got from trading him at his peak, where we were at as a list; and what we wanted to do.

Yeah it's a fair core of high-end talent, together with some of the other senior guys you've got. But you'll also need some youngsters on your list to be absolute bolters from the blue to replace the mediocrity in your bottom 10 if you're going to get there.

Butler and Castagna are cheap finds but we need the following

Lenon to replace Llyod
Short to replace Hunt
C.Ellis/Menadue to replace Grigg
Markov to replace Hunt
Mircale to replace Griffiths

If those players come along we can push for top4 as early as next season

The sad part about dusty is the better he gets the more carr gets (id say the fee will be a percentage if dustys contract).
If carr was ethical he should cap his fee and let dusty get his right rewards.
Players keep asking for more money (no refernce to dusty) but the afl should step in and cap the managers fees. Managers then have no icentive to shop their players around to the highest bidder (ffs thats what ebay auctions are for).

When you catch the golden goose, you want as many eggs a day as possible.

Your most probably right but it depends who we shove out the door to make it happen.
Prestia and Caddy wouldn't have come for peanuts and then we have Cotchin, Rance and Riewoldt plus forking out $$$$ for Martin.

We have lost Deledios wage though and Yarrans. Rumour is we had enough room for a big fish prior to Lids leaving and Yarran retiring so who knows.
