Anyone interested in joining me on a hunger strike to protest against Blair's selection?
Hopefully you can break your strike with some humble pie tomorrow night, after Blair hits form with 2 goals, 3 goal assists & a whole bunch of tackles & 1%ers.

I do need to lose weight but I'm too pretty to die of starvation

A fathers love hath no bounds.

Geoff was pretty ordinary too.

Very (very!) over rated as a test cricketer
Geoff was a gladiator not a cricketer who occasionally used the club (bat) in his hand . Regardless his boys lack heart and enough talent to play on the international stage.

Serious question. When was the last time Blair influenced a successful result? From last year I recall his brilliant goal from the ponsfors pocket at the city end against the blues but we lost. Before that I only recall the toe poke against the bombers a few Anzac days ago. When did Blair last make a difference? I can't remember

I can't remember what I had for breakfast.

The weather should be just right for the little man. But it must be said that he is on thin ice.

Happy enough with the changes.

No point spending valuable rotation bench time on Cox if Grundy can ruck all game with a bit of help from White who comes as support in the middle at times anyway.

Broomhead I believe has got a good goal sense and crumbing ability and also a good kick I50 so he should partly solve our issues of inefficient I50 entries into a crowded F50 because of our style of play.

Aish should take more midfield time, freeing WHE to spend more time forward (I hope) where he's a dangerous match up as he's really strong aerially and on the ground.

Blair was worst on ground last week and detrimental to the team but I can understand keeping him for two reasons: 1. Varcoe is out and being the king of pressure acts we need someone to do it in the meantime, and 2. generally even if Blair has been the subject of past frustrations I don't agree with dropping players on performance after one game (Cox is different, he played an OK game because of his work in the ruck but he's dropped on structures). If he's average or below and doesn't get dropped for Varcoe then I'll join the chorus.

I wouldn't seeing Crisp follow Martin closely when in the midfield if he's on like he was last week.

Other than that we really need our small defenders to step up against the dangerous smalls and mediums in the Richmond forward line. If they struggle we could send Adams back as an extra to avoid losing all the ground ball contests in our d50 which we basically did against the Dogs.

Big game for our future. All good and well to have an honourable loss against the premiers but beating fellow middle of the road teams is where it's at for us this year. Bring it on.

Kicked a blinder from the boundary against GWS last year

He's never been a match winner, very few players are.
I think I know what you're saying jmac, one man doesn't make a team and the whole team needs to play together and all that, but I don't even know what he brings to the team.

Caleb Daniel brings exquisite skill to the dogs. Puopolo brings speed strength and toughness to the Hawks. Papley and Gregson brought an uncanny knack for scoring goals in their first season.

There's only so long you can go with average or below average output before you intervene to effect change

He's usually very good against bottom 4 teams and in the Wizard Cup.

King did highlight more than one incidend FWIW.
I don't think our midfield is lazy. I do think Fasolo is lazy and when he's up the ground he doesn't run defensively as hard as his Bulldogs equivilent. He's not the only one and it's been an issue highlighted for 5 years. Then there is a general lack of pace that prevents us getting back as quickly as some teams (like the Dog's). In general our defensive runing isn't up to scratch and that's not just down to the midfield. That's a big part of why we lost.

The Dogs didn't get out of jail. Their defense holds teams better than ours generaly and it did again on Friday night. They defend better than mosty and won flag. They defended better than us even though we had a big ruck and first use advantage.

The turnovers on the other hand are a long runing issue and won't be adequately addresses until the list changes are made. It is directly attributable to skill level. As much as Adams is a good ball winner and as much as people say he's improved his disposal, he is a regular culprit. You can carry an Adams for his positive attributes but we just won't win a flag with the skill surrounding him. We carried Swan's often dirty disposal because we had more class around him and even then our disposal let us down too often.

I don't know why we recruit so many poor to medium skilled players but we always seem to suffer from poor disposal.

As for defensive running, that's a combination of personal, fitness, pace, game plan and committment. The coach has to be responsible for the last 2 at least.

Agree, Fas is probably the worst offender in the team but only marginally in front of Treloar. One of the quickest guys on our list yet he just canters after opponents. Don't know that you'll ever fix Fas, but Treloar at least acknowledges it's an issue and has said he's working on it.

Just watched the vid of those last 2 minutes and couldn't help noticing the difference with this year's selection. Williams Brown Cloke Langdon Caff Varcoe Greenwood DeGoey. Anyone else I missed?
