Rumour Marc Murphy upset/targeted ?

Actually we have made the finals many times in the last 16 years, including 3 Grand Finals.

I'm not sure how old you are Granpa, but I've only been watching footy for the past twenty years. In that time Carlton have been THE WORST side in the competition as evidenced by four wooden spoons (more than any other club in that period). So own it.

However, if you are running an on-line ancient history class in "good sides of the last millennium" you may get some interest from Collingwood supporters. I believe they were jolly good back in the 1920's.

Well that's awfully convenient for you isn't it.

A proper ancient history lesson would most likely include facts like Carlton has won 8 flags since the Sainters last one, or maybe that in the time you have been watching and Carlton were the worst side in the competition the Saints managed the exact same number of flags as the Blues did over that period.

I'm not happy we apologized. Sledging is part of any sport. The more competitive the sport (NBA, etc) the more the sledging. Sledging is an effective way to put an opponent off of his game - to get an edge. It may be the difference between winning and losing. The fact we apologized to me is pathetic. You look at all the successful dynasty teams of the past 25 years, and more often than not the best teams were also the best sledges. If Murphy doesn't like what was said, then IMO there is a fair chance it is true, and if it is true then other players are just speaking the truth. If Murphy doesn't like the truth then maybe he shouldn't of taken his missus back.

What a stupid, stupid example to use. What the hell is wrong with you

How is it stupid, this is the whole argument, where do you draw the line ?

A good rule of thumb, if it's offensive to your team-mates then you're over the line.

Convenient? Mmmm not sure I had any say in when I was born.

For most of my short(ish) happy life Carlton have been rubbish on the field and cheats off it.

Don't blame me if I'm not old enough to remember Jack Silvagni's Grandpappy.

You know another good rule of thumb? Don't talk shit about a man's family.

And I can guarantee you that most Saints would be embarassed if that's what Carlisle actually said.
It was more than Carlisle sledging him.

The focus is on him because Murphy went to an injured bloke. That's more embarrassing than anything said (& I'm guessing worse was probably said by both teams).

Those thinking its Carlisle exclusively are wrong. This has happened in every game this season. Carlisle may well have gone overboard on Saturday but it's not an isolated occurrence

Generally speaking you're right but IF Carlisle said that, I've got no issue with Murphy sticking the boot in. It's not as though he was lying there concussed or with a compound fracture.

I've got no issue with Murphy either...he didn't touch Carlisle at all. Didnt stop and stand over him at all....sure he gave him a close range spray but it's wasn't as big as being made out

No doubt Murphy had some pretty shitty things to him said, but do people actually think stuff like that wouldn't be said every game?

A bit unbelievable how much this has been beat up.
Funny that it was actually the saints fans who made it a big deal by crying when Murphy said a couple of words to the drug cheat

Saints players said something bad, have attempted to apologise since.

Murphy probably shouldn't have gone out of his way to say something while Carlisle was injured on the ground.

I don't see the point in slamming each other's clubs and fan base, it really isn't a major story.
That's really all there is to it :thumbsu:

Does that include fizz wiz cups?

Even when we are painfully and horrifically bad we still manage to win shit

So basically the entire St Kilda football club went further then Nick Kyrgios re: Stan Wawrinka, definitely wasn't acceptable for Nick and is certainly not from a whole club.

Well Murphs had a ripper year so far, let his emotions get on top of him on the weekend I agree but still killed it.

So, if it's been happening all year and no doubt will continue for the rest of the season, put a tenner on the Brownlow. There's a tip for you!!

You have to admit that any sledge that can incorporate the use of the word "Kokkinakis" in that context must go straight into the hall of fame.

All this media stuff will do is just put 16 other clubs on notice on how to get under Murphys skin.

If he took so much offence to the sledges why did he only react when a bloke was on the ground injured?

Why did no other Carlton players fly the flag for him before the melee?

Murphy will have to live with that.
I think he'll be fine. ;)

In the meantime Carlisle has to live with being a coke fiend, losing years of his career (and who knows, life?) to an illegal drugs program at his last club AND being as dumb as a toddler.
