I agree the 4k extra supporters was never going to happen. Trigg oversold it.

But putting on an extra two home games would be a financial benefit to your club?

Whenever I go to the SANFL games I make an effort to buy some raffle tickets and buy some food, I rarely eat at the Footy.

My Dad and I do the same. Plus Dad really likes the cheaper alcohol prices and Glenelg are very nice at filling to the brim the little red wine plastic cup. We often pay the couple of dollars to go sit in the stands as another way to put some money back into that local club.

What I find hilarious about a lot of this, is sometimes you see a crows members ticket hanging around their neck that they used to get into the ground for free.

The two extra games being a benefit is precarious, for example, Sturt has had the largest gameday set up costs of any club (these have come down a bit with the picket boundary fence and we still have to erect temporary perimeter fences), our break even crowd was something like 3000/3500. So if we're hosting two games against Adelaide and only getting 2500 there can be a loss, not a benefit.
This may be the case with other clubs that have lower set up costs but fewer supporters.

That said, I've had a few discussions with our GM, Sue Dewing about the reserves set up (I'm up front with her, the club and on here that I'm not a fan), she has told me that some of our biggest crowds are against Adelaide and while it may not seem like it with vocal support, she has told me that the cross over between Sturt supporters that also support Adelaide (AFL) is massive (no $hit Sherlock), I'm part of that geographic.

Now whether or not that has continued as the novelty wears off with the current model I don't know, it was a while ago that we had this chat. Whether or not we make much money from hosting two home games I'm not sure, we struck a deal with Adelaide to play a game at Thebby which I understand was a good deal for Sturt.

While some Sturt supporters are a bit vocal towards Adelaide supporters at games, (rest assured they're more vocal towards Port supporters) the club is very welcoming to Adelaide punters enjoying a day at Unley be they Sturt supporters or not.
Sue herself is an avid Adelaide supporter.

Are there ANY games where this break even figure is reached? Last year I attended Unley , Sturt v Adelaide and I think 3500 was the figure , or close to it. Yet games against other clubs don't seem to generate this break even figure

I'm not sure why Adelaide gets the grief when fans of other clubs have also stopped going. I can see the argument that those fans are now ' Adelaide fans' but the drop off is way too big to use that.

I'm not sure GC, as mentioned, the conversation was a while ago so don't quote me on those figures, I'll try to have a chat with Sue or another board member this weekend when we beat Port Power Reserves.....:D
I haven't come across anyone touting supporter numbers have dropped off due to jumping ship to support Adelaide, the drop off from SANFL clubs have come from people using it as a protest against the reserves teams or being so disillusioned with the current set up they've lost interest. I've got many mates in both groups.

Again, Adelaide gets the grief due to Triggs nonsensical promises from the outset and because people are pi$$ed off with the set up and want to vent.

I see and hear jibes and abuse between all supporters from all sides, don't think that it's only Adelaide supporters getting a hard time at an SANFL game if that's all someone has gone to.

My views are it is a minority of supporters a small group of w***ers, But I see them willing move to stand near Crows supporters and rather than watching the game would rather spend their time abusing other supporters. Again it a small group and from experience, most are not even members of any club. But every SANFL club has them.
Have to admit it is peaceful these days when I go to a game with no Club gear. Then you can support both teams and applaud good football.

Rucci just mentioned on 5AA he has talked to the AFL complaining we aren't being honest enough with our injury list!

hahaha suck it up flog. You get nothing because you are a flog.

Is there a rule that says we have to report injuries and how long they expect the player to be out?

You could lower your costs by not playing in a dog park...

That's handy to know...

It's happened to the team out at Centrals as well, when we actually won a game there. The players looked shocked but then just started laughing, but the vitriol was scary to witness.

Last year at the finals I had a centrals supporter accuse me of not knowing any of our players names. Um, honey, I'm not the one to accuse that of! I kept my mouth shut though as I didn't want to get hit.

Prospect would have to be the worst with the abuse the players get, not to mention the supporters. Peter J can back me up on what he witnessed there as well.

What I find hilarious about a lot of this, is sometimes you see a crows members ticket hanging around their neck that they used to get into the ground for free.
I went to the game at Prospect last year where we won a tight one (same game Dear kicked 6 I believe).

Roosters fans were the biggest bunch of crybabies I have ever seen. I was hearing so much abuse, but some of the fans were practically in tears about it so it almost became humourous.

Same. People sometimes spruik on here that you can get in for free with your Crows membership which reminds me of

It's pretty petty shit stirring by Rooch. It's one thing to go and write an article, it's another thing to go to the AFL and accuse the team of lying and only reenforces that the club has made the correct call in not wanting to have anything to do with him.
When Fagan sussed out that this worm did nothing but try to undermine and ridicule the AFC at every opportunity, he politely asked for a bit of even-handedness. It wasn't forthcoming, so ya know what Rootch? "YAZ GETS WHAT YAZ DESERVES" campaignerface!

Somebody call the waaaaaambulance, or the truth police. The Crows aren't telling the truth about their injuries.

FMD....I can't even...Surely he's gotta be taking the pi55.

I've found that North and Norwood supporters have a tendency to eat their own when losing as well.

I was out at Elizabeth a few years ago watching Sturt, a fight broke out between Centrals supporters after the halftime break.
My mate and I looked on bemused, dodged the odd punch and push and wondered where the f*** we were.

I went to a SANFL GF between Port and Centrals I think, was a while back in latter half of 90s, maybe 96, at West Lakes. Every couple of minutes an argument would break out, two guys or more would head out back for a fight and never returned. This continued until what started as a full bay ended up half full. Never went to a SANFL match again.

We never made it to the stands when you couldn't take beers out.
