Is it true that with the new CBA (or what ever its called) being finalized that there are no restricted free agents anymore, all free agents are unrestricted??
Yes...
Next year.
You don't have a source/article somewhere that explains this out of curiosity?

I did but the article has been edited to remove the reference to it.
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-06-20/players-get-20-per-cent-pay-rise-in-new-cba used to contain "Restricted free agency has been removed, with all free agents 'unrestricted'" in the list of other key details. This has been removed in the last hour and a half...
They must be waiting for confirmation I guess...that is a bit suspectThey must be waiting for confirmation I guess...
There's a separate article on The Roar that makes reference to the requirement of being an RFA before a UFA is what is actually gone but the time limits remain the same. It's possible that the AFL.com.au writer misunderstood, hence the change.
Yep RFA still exists this year, next year etc etc.
The only change is a really minor one where previously you needed to be an RFA (8 years at 1 club) before you became eligible to be an UFA (10 years).
Now its possible to have played 10 years at 10 different clubs if you wanted, and still become a UFA.
An incredibly minor change
Anyone would be silly to pay attention to a John Ralph article.
Even though in this case he's stating the bleeding obvious.

I see Jon Ralph speaks for dusty now, so why hasn't he signed ??I hate to say it but Jon Ralph sums it up perfectly in a nutshell.
Richmond would be silly not to match any free agency offer for Dustin Martin
"Now the Martin situation confronts them, with no one really knowing exactly what he might do.
He has absolutely no reason to leave — he has a deal of over $1 million a year in front of him, his club is well placed for success, he is content at the club.
But pushing the message that under free agency rights they would match any bid might make their hand even stronger.
Brendon Gale has already inferred it, saying on Saturday: “He’s a restricted free agent. So we’ve always got the right to match any sort of offer. I guess we do have that in the background.”
Under free agency rights if a player’s restricted free agency bid is matched, they can either stay, nominate for the draft or the clubs can broker a trade.
If Martin departed, the Tigers would receive a pick after their first round selection.
It is currently pick 13, so receiving pick 14 for Martin would follow a long line of clubs being shafted with inadequate compensation.
Pick 14 is the same number Adelaide refused to accept as compensation for Dangerfield.
....
"The worst outcome from matching is a superior trade to pick No.14 and the downside is basically nothing."

Richmond's hand in this is a lot stronger than people seem willing to acknowledge...
Jon also mentions their is no way Martin would risk going into the draft with the threat of Brisbane having the number 1 pick in both drafts

This quote 'He has absolutely no reason to leave.'What's inaccurate or wrong with what Jon has said? I think what we're waiting for is after the season has ended Dusty will agree to a deal with a rival club. We will match and he will stay. That's the best way for him to extract the best possible deal money wise, so that's what he'll do.
This quote 'He has absolutely no reason to leave.'
He doesn't speak for Martin..
Don't get so defensive, I'm just pointing out the fact there's multiple reasons why someone leaves their job. There's only one person who'd know and that's Martin. So you know better? and your hope is what? Richmond will just let Martin walk for a single comp pick?
I've got absolutely no inside knowledge, but I'm guessing it's one of 2 things.I see Jon Ralph speaks for dusty now, so why hasn't he signed ??
Again how do you know this is the case??He doesn't want to leave, he just wants the best money available that he can get from the Tigers.
If it's not money, what else would it be? The club has helped him enormously off field, his best mates are there, the club allows him to go see his Dad and gives him time off for it.Again how do you know this is the case??
Are you Dusty??
Money might not be a deciding factor..
Money might not even be a factor here. There's multiple reasons one changes jobs. It could be personal, new challenges, seeking a different environment. Or the number one reason, people don't leave jobs, they leave managers. If it's not money, what else would it be? The club has helped him enormously off field, his best mates are there, the club allows him to go see his Dad and gives him time off for it.
He'll be at the Tigers next year on a shitload of money, it's just going to be an annoying 4 months constantly hearing every other club's supporters tell us they are a chance to get him.
Ok we'll see where he is next year then. I'm tipping Richmond, you seem to be tipping otherwise. We'll have to see who is proven correct.Money might not even be a factor here. There's multiple reasons one changes jobs. It could be personal, new challenges, seeking a different environment. Or the number one reason, people don't leave jobs, they leave managers.
Only Dusty knows and only Dusty can speak for himself.
You're daft if you think otherwise.
