Autopsy Rd 14 Blues go down by 26 in an ugly game

Actually, yeah, totally forgot that was my other pet hate for the day at the game. Smedts I just think is not a defender at all. He needs time given across half forward. He may actually be a good guy for 2 or 3 goals if he settles down.

He seemed to be injured an awful lot (like Waite - never able to string half a dozen games together), but I do remember seeing him a couple of times playing for Geelong as a forward and thought he looked quite elusive at times and had very good skills, and, can kick a good snap goal. I know a lot of Geelong supporters like/rate him (one in particular who or I worked with) - one thing that was said, and I was told again after this match, is he is not a defender! Apparently, Scott played him in defence and that ruined his career at Geelong? He had a crap game, but I just wish they had put him up forward and maybe put SOSOS down back (he carries the defender gene!) for a run. Ah well...

I wasn't meaning early plea I meant coz of his record.
He did the wrong thing throwing his arm back he probably didn't mean to cause the damage he did but he caused it so he will wear it now. Calling him a sniper for it though cheapens the word. He didn't line him up milburn style. He didn't have only eyes to take lamb out like Lloyd on Sewell.
When he said not intentional the way he said it I took as he didn't mean to cause such damage but as he said himself he will cop what he gets.

Agree - severe impact, hit him high and intentional (didn't plan for it to go the way it did, but nevertheless he certainly did intend to hit him - he momentarily looked back). Not a sniper, and not a Milburn "dog act" as you said, but Lamb took no further part in the game so I reckon maybe 4 weeks reduced to 3!

Pity Lamb has a poor record of head butting players arms, was hoping he would get an early plea discount from the MRP and only get fined. Also glad it is only a warning for a first offence for staging.

Hope Houli's fist is okay. Anyone seen the Doctors report from the Tigers?

Turnball said Houli's fist looks ok Jab you can rest easy friend .......

They're always up & about this time of year, then when they hit September Cotchin pulls his 'Where's Wally' stunt & another 60k memberships end up in the microwave.
And kicks into the wind.

I'll tell you one thing for sure .... Smedts should never .... NEVER play in the defensive half ever again unless it is as an extra man.

Thug Houli got a spot on the bench in team of the week for his efforts on the weekend ..WTF.. Well done Kreuz second week in a row ..

The PM endorses this comment!

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but at the game, even the crowd felt flat.

The other thing that surprised me was the lack of outrage towards Houli after the elbow.
Sure he copped some light booing, but honestly, back in the day the crowd would have been going FERAL every time he got near the ball. The teams remonstration after the hit was a bit lack lustre too!

I don't think too many people saw it. I know I didn't and nor did the people around me. As it was reported on the spot no replay was put up on the screen.
We knew Houli did something but we didn't know what.

I'm not sure if it is just me but did anybody else notice that we didn't tag Dusty the same way we tagged Ablett. Against Gold Coast every blues player had to bump into Ablett if they were near him. Yet against the tigers i felt no one was bumping into Dusty.

Dusty is untaggable, trying would've been pointless

Yes.

I was actually speaking with a mate before the game about this.

I mentioned that I doubt we'd go down that path with Dusty - I reckon he's the type to thrive on the back of it rather than let it affect him adversely.

My thoughts were that if we were going down that path with someone it should be Cotchin. The bloke turns to water under pressure.

The pressure of a coin toss has mentally ruined Cotchin in the past, let alone a heavy tag :D

Agreed - the best way to counter Dusty is to bore him out of the game. He doesn't work all that hard defensively, and can go missing for long patches when the ball isn't coming his way. Win the ball and limit his supply and you go a long way to quelling his influence.
