Heard from someone this afternoon that this whole situation has been managed by the AFL from early Sunday morning. If Schofield was let off by the MRP then the media cycle would focus on Oliver diving and why wasn't he charged which is not the look the AFL wanted. Melbourne were told to provide a medical report that would lean towards heavy contact but not get them in trouble for allowing a concussed player back into the game. So Schofield was offered a week and West Coast were told if they challenged he would get off. They challenged, we had a show trial and here we are. Will be followed by a general warning to players at all clubs that there will now be a crackdown on diving similar to the crackdown on jumper punches.

Jordan Lewis just helped add to the diving claim. When at the Hawks Cyril cleaned him up with a ripping bump right up the middle and Oliver got up. But when he got a minor tap on the chin he fell back like he was shot. So one instance he's super tough....and in another he isn't? Exactly how does that work Jordan? One game you are tough....the next you arent?

If Lewis wasn't defending a team mate I'm pretty sure he'd have a different comment and something closer to the truth.

Should have asked him if he or Hodge would have dropped dead like that if it happened to them.

My mistake, I didn't give the Lewis story any of my time so I had no idea about the keyboard warrior thing :D

It fits in with why Oliver wasn't at the tribunal . Afl lawyer can't be that incompetent

That's drifting into tin foil hat territory

Could have achieved a better result by assessing it the same as Parkers elbow (careless instead of intentional) and fining Schofield

Also if they wanted to shift the focus away from Oliver diving why would they then warn players there's going to be a crackdown on diving. That's just generating the result they set out to avoid

Doesn't actually make any sense and seems like a lot of work lining people up to play along to achieve what exactly

Better result for Schofield being found NG anyway, no fine.

If thats true, I'm disappointed by the news. Oliver should have been made an example of. If that was a duggan or barrass and they would have got the maximum penalty.
