I thought the people throwing jumper punches after the AFL put them in the spotlight were dumb.

Throwing a dead set punch mere days after the tribunal is overruled for being too lenient on a punch is just next level kinda dumb.

Yeah no doubt it can happen where there is significant damage done (Leigh Matthews *cough cough*). The fact though that the tribunal has penalties for striking I would think means its reasonable to assume ... by agreeing to play you are voluntarily assuming the risk and cant claim assault if it happens (if theres no long term damage done)

Brother in law got reported to police for breaking someone's nose. They didn't proceed with charges when they found out it was during a football game. Unless the damage is extreme you won't see someone charged from a footy incident.

And if you want players charged, they'd have to charge any player who illegally hits another player. Houli, franklin, bugg, Lewis, hogan, hall etc etc etc would all have faced charges

Not comparing Bugg to your players, just pointing out that you can't just throw the whole footy club under the bus because of one guys actions. What Bugg did was stupid but just like Hogan and Lewis he will serve his suspension and hopefully put his aggression towards being a better player.

The social media thing was a joke btw, the players are mates and the media took it for more than what it was worth.
