But Mills acted as if he expected nothing in return for what he did. Rookie mistake.
Nah, can't agree he was clueless about consequences. Look back at the Carlton game in round 6, Mills got worked over by half the Blues team; there were a raft of articles afterwards about how the Swans failed to back him up when they came at him. He's a mouthy kid who's well aware of the early game niggling, the shoulders and elbows to let the other guy know you're there. What he didn't expect was for Bugg to completely lose the plot and escalate straight past pushing and elbows to a straight left to the jaw.

Seriously, that nudge from Mills happens 50 times in the minute either side of the first bounce in any game. Bugg did something no player would ever expect.

Carlton are playing and their fans are on here whinging about a game two months ago...strange bunch
Some of them are still calling for Hogan to be banned for life and Lewis to serve time in prison for his gutless thug act on Cripps

Wouldn't be surprised to hear them boo them for the rest of their careers

But Mills turned away like he didn't expect anything.

Has this even been confirmed or just a bit of Chinese whispers from frantic Melbourne supporters?

Beside the point, yes, knocking a bloke in the head is a dog act. It's the worst hit on a player since Barry Hall's shot on Staker, which was universally seen to be a shitty, cheap hit.

It's in the video.

Mills initiates contact by running into Bugg and gives him a little tap to the ribs with his forearm/elbow, he then goes to move away, as he does, he turns his head back toward Bugg, just as Bugg is lashing out with a fist. He flushes him.

5 weeks down to 4 with an early guilty plea.. if thats how it works.

That's not how it works or is supposed to work. (Thus the AFL appeal last week) The tribunal give you x weeks. There is no 4 down to 2 because you are a nice guy, or plead guilty or re-home puppies. Pleading guilty if you are sent straight to the tribunal doesn't really mean anything. The fixed down the ground cameras get everything. Everything is on video now.

In just about all cases, the tribunal are there to sentence you. In 99% of cases there is no doubt what happened.

Bugg has always been a sniper and may have suspension form too. Looks to be a bit of a tool as a person and only an ordinary footballer. Reckon Melbourne would be filthy with him.

This is worse than Houli's hit and Bugg isn't the upstanding character Houli is either. Not just because I'm a Swans supporter but 4 weeks for Houli set the current day benchmark, this will be 5 minimum. The AFL absolutely hate this kind of act, damages the game, particularly two weeks in a row. Don't expect last Tuesday night's Tribunal panel to hear this one!

Are you ready Bugg?

I had to laugh, when the Ch7 coverage of the game began there was a quick grab from various Melbourne players speculating as to who might be a big-game player (as basically none of them, apart from Lewis, has played in anything approaching a big game in their careers) - some clown nominated Bugg ...

thought Sydney gave Melbourne an absolute lesson as to where they actually need to get to in terms of developing big-game temperaments; head over the ball and strong focus, while numbnuts Bugg wilted under pressure, lashed out and went on to have an absolute shocker.

yes you can, one was within play and a backhand while not directly looking at the opponent, the other was a direct jab to the face like he was about to go head to head with Floyd Mayweather. Bugg will get more than Houli, the AFL will come down hard on him after the week we have just had.
Houli knew exactly what he was doing and Houli was not within play

Have to be Anthony Mundine surely, a perfect surrogate for Waleed Aly. Both high profile muslim apologists for Islamic terrorism, plus Mundine is an aboriginal, if that doesn't get you a politically correct sentence reduction from the tribunal nothing will. Six down to three and then the AFL appeals and it's back to six again.
This post ticks like, 5 racist bingo boxes.

Your posting in the number of related threads shows you need to take the rose glasses off mate! No way in hell it gets anywhere near 10.

Won't be more than 6. Anywhere from 4-6 will be about the mark, particularly given 4 seems to be generally accepted as appropriate for Houli's elbow

Houli's elbow? Agree with your prediction just struggling with elbow.

MRP feeling the league / media pressure placed on recent judgements has been totally unfair and not their fault at all totally under reacts and gives him 2 The AFL is not happy and appeals but it is never heard as Grubb is gunned down in a drive by outside AFL house

Lol. Jon Ralph claiming buggs bad record of one fine and him telling he crowd to shush will impact the penalty.

WOWEEE. To be honest, it looks much worse then the houli incident. I think 6-8 weeks with Tom pleading guilting.

First the hollywood diver in Clayton Unprecendent Oliver, now the dirty play by Tom. Are we seeing a culture problem at the Demons?
Well their coach did get the good stuff

The outcry from the press so far is its out of character , exemplary young man......hmmmmm two rules
Everything I've heard on the radio has said he deserves six weeks

Are you just a professional victim or?

Point out anything in my post about what's in the video that is incorrect?

He should get the same as Houli provided he has a clean record.

The hits from the two incidences both had the same outcome. Bugg's hit more probably more clinical than Houli's. Bugg retaliating disproportionately to some off the ball body contact and niggle.
