Great advice at how to consistently snipe the oppos best players and get away with it
Well said........and not forgetting how to break a cheekbone (Murphs) by just lifting your shoulder ever so slightly as not to get rubbed out for 2 weeks. Also the master of the forearm in the face, and the list is endless!!! I will also add that yes he sure knew how to inspire his team in big games and was a match winner..........I bet Wingard is happy that Hodge is retiring so he doesn`t have to have his head jammed against the goal post ever again!!!

He's all but gone mate (as in 99 percent out the door). He'd have re-signed by now otherwise.

There is no way GWS can match what we (and other clubs) can put up $$$ wise (and thats before the extra cash he would get being down at a Vic club through marketing, media, endorsements and club backers coming to the party).

He's hoping to pinch a flag this year and then take the sensible option and leave for (much) more money and financial security.

I'd be happy frontloading a contract as much as we can afford next year for the bloke. 2 million plus a year for the first 2 years, then tapering off (so we can resign Cripps and Docherty on the same).

Whatever it takes to get him across the line.
A Giants premiership I would say, but at the moment that is looking a bit shaky. Go the Kellys...../I mean Giants!!!

Interesting line in Caro's piece today re: Scott/Buckley, where she was appeared to be quite dismissive of Nth's chances of landing Kelly, with a comment along the lines of 'numerous lucrative options in front of him'.

Probably nothing, but if anything may suggest the chatter that Carlton would be the destination IF he leaves may have some merit.

It's not his fault he got the Quaddie;
Ugly
Stupid
Red hair
1st name Clayton

Apologies to any Stupid, ugly, red headed Claytons out there.
A lot of his current behaviour could be attributed to his upbringing. His mum was never circumspect with her views on Roos while he was coach.

Could have a bit to do with why he behaves as he does.

There was a point in the last (i think) quarter where Oliver and Gibba were tangling on the flank.
You could see Oliver was trying to hit Gibbs without anyone seeing. The look on his face was pretty hateful.
He's a knob, and if he keeps that attitude up, there will be many who will have a crack at him on the street or in nightclubs.
Believes his own media and thinks he is an enforcer.
They do have a nasty attitude thing building at the Dees, and boy are they up themselves.........you might even say they think they are the new Hawthorn on the block !!!

Five rising stars, Jones' career being resurrected, Gibbs and Kreuzer in AA contention for the first real time, pushing top sides consistently all in Bolts' second year - money aside, you'd have to think we're an appealing destination for anyone on the move.

Yep apart from the impending success it looks like we'll be enjoying, it shows players that we have a coach and environment that will develop them to become the best player they can be.

Young players improving quickly - 2015 draft, sps, Williamson, fisher, Macreadie.

Older players having great years - Gibbs, Kreuz, Murphy, doc (even though he's not actually old). Even Thomas doing alright.

Journeymen resurrecting their careers and playing good footy - Jones, lamb, ASOS, wright, arguably casboult etc

We would be appealing to every type of player and give them confidence we'd make them a better player.

That's an unfair assumption to make; that a child's personality will automatically reflect that of their parents. Plenty of children turn out differently despite how their parents act....

...I mean my parents are intelligent, well-mannered, considerate and mature individuals....;)

I think we are at a stage where we need to get as many proven quality young mids into the list asap so don't mind if we trade away first rounders to achieve that. This and next years first rounders for Kelly and Hopper. Just do it. Makes more sense than using said picks on raw kids.

Unless that pick gets us an LDU or Rayner who seem to be ready-made ala Ollie Wines and could develop quickly enough to become a core part of #17. Otherwise if we don't think one of those types will be available, I'd agree.

If we can trade down the order but stay in the first round for either (or both) of 2017/18 then I'm all for whatever else gets us Kelly and Hopper - preferably if we can keep Gibbs, too. Agree that he'll try to go again, but I'm not sure what the line is on SOS to make the trade and whether Crows are willing to pony up this time.

We should definitely be targetting 20-22 year old mids if possible, so we can have them come in and make an immediate impact. Realistically 18 year olds are not going to come in and have a dramatic immediate impact to your team ability. Particularly if Gibbs leaves, we need players that already have a few pre-seasons under our belt. I don't really think we make a sacrifice by adopting this strategy either and if anything, we are sureing up the probability that we use our picks effectively.

Agree completely. Our draft strike rate to date since SOS has come on board has been terrific - but as good as he and his team are, there are no guarantees at the draft table. Kelly and Hopper, however, are known quantities.. and fill actual needs!
