Happens every year. Clem Smith was a first round pick 12 months out and is already out of the system. Charlie Spargo was a top 5 pick in this draft and 12 months later he's barely even rating a mention.

Overall I'm just advising caution for those that are looking at 2018 as a super draft and I'd look at it as an opportunity to leverage against some of those views if we wanted to trade our 2018 first round pick.

Agree. There's no guarantee that a club will be in a draft range to grab these future prospects either irrespective of how well they might project as underage talent.

re recruiting a champion to play forward whos now fitter than hes been for years or is it trading a has been injury prone back who has been surpased by younger more athletic version or the future champion we recruit with a few blokes who have shown us what? and will go eventually anyway go back home.
you need to regenerate, you need to have SOME currency to land a decent recruit.
whats your advice , keep reid and get his brother? watch Alir Alir go elsewhere, miss out on the future again because of sentiment.

We have different ways of thinking then. You have 1/4 of the playing list being shelved, inc Reid, Scharanberg, Aish, Broomhead and Goldy who imo is having his best year. Thats an awful lot of change. Why you even mention Swan I have no idea. Some of those guys might not make it, I grant you that. But they need a decent run at it before you chop them. We have the mechanism to bring in 2 forwards if thats what you think we need, without totalling the list. We'll have a pretty decent pick and by all reports, a chance at Reid's brother to fill the gap.
