Yes because Cripps can influence games whereas i see Kelly an elite and polish player. Shiel will be the one that is worth 2 first round picks
Kelly vs Cripps 2017

CP: 11.9 vs 13.5
Clearances: 5.1 vs 6.7
Tackles: 6.9 vs 6.0

Kelly's inside game isn't that much worse than Cripps' this year. Of course Cripps has been down for obvious reasons, but Kelly has obviously become one of the best mids in the competition and will only get better. He is a pure inside-outside jet. GWS will surely require two first rounders, maybe something comes back.

I hope you're wrong about what they require...

More likely to be pick 3 for Kelly and Griffen IMO - and we take the salary off their books.

EDIT - that being said, Griffen is from SA originally - would be interesting to see if he was keen on a move to Adelaide?

Adelaide get Griffen and Gibbs (we pay Gibbs salary)
GWS get Lever
Carlton get Kelly
(needs picks to balance the whole thing out)

Kelly might be a top 10 mid but realistically we would have to fork out multiple picks to secure him, it isn't unreasonable to think that we may be better suited to stock up on picks to continue our rebuild especially given our recent luck/skill in identifying talent.
It is entirely unreasonable. Kelly is a top 10 mid. The chance of getting a top 10 mid, even with two draft picks.. is very limited. There has been 40 "top 10 draft picks" over the last 4 years. Only a couple are in the top 10 mids in the game.

Skill is also identifying when to go with a sure thing vs an educated unknown.

Could this be the player that Maher was talking about on his podcast?
Seems to support it - too much of a coincidence otherwise. Must of been one hell of a presentation by SOS and Bolts.

If we actually pull this off and somehow keep Gibbs, I'll love it. The outer footy world still has Norf (or GWS) faves to get him, so if we manage to secure his interest/signature and keep Gibbs from the Croweaters - we'll be hated by many but respected by just as many others.

Kelly will be at the Blues next year and is set to leave GWS no matter what happens at the end of the season. This is coming from Mason Wood, who had lunch with someone I work with, yesterday.
Can confirm Mason Wood was the player Andy Maher was referring to on the podcast a few weeks back

Just imagining Cripps, Gibbs, Murph and Kelly at the stoppages with Kreuz banging it down their throat is getting me way too excited.
With Cuningham, SPS and Fisher having another year in the system and rotating through, with Doc coming in now and then..

I think I need to go settle myself down :straining:...

North have a supposed in the know poster who's just said on one of the last two pages on their J. Kelly thread that he's likely to stay put but if he does go it's 'North and only North'.

If we don't get him I really hope they don't... The melts would be ridiculous. Big footy would crash.

To add to that he said Dusty is going to North... If richmond force a trade how the fluff are they going to afford both these players?

But but but Maher was referring to a 'high profile' Norf player. :p

I assumed it was Todd Goldstein.

At over two metres tall, he's pretty high and that nose gives him quite the profile...

Wiggs performances this year:
Harrison Wigg: 21 disposals, five tackles, four rebound 50ms, three marks, two clearances, one inside 50m

Harrison Wigg: 30 disposals, seven marks, seven inside 50ms, four rebound 50ms, four clearances, two tackles

Harrison Wigg: 21 disposals, six inside 50ms, four marks, three tackles, one clearance, one rebound 50m, one goal

Harrison Wigg: 28 disposals, six inside 50ms, four marks, three rebound 50ms, two clearances

Harrison Wigg: 38 disposals, 13 clearances, nine inside 50ms, five tackles, four marks, two rebound 50ms

Harrison Wigg: 22 disposals, eight tackles, five marks, five inside 50ms, two clearances, one rebound 50m, one goal

Harrison Wigg: 18 disposals, six rebound 50ms, four inside 50m, three tackles, three marks, two clearances

Harrison Wigg: 30 disposals, nine clearances, six inside 50ms, five tackles, four rebound 50ms, three marks, two goals

Harrison Wigg: 15 disposals, five tackles, four clearances, three inside 50ms, one rebound 50m

Harrison Wigg: 25 disposals, six clearances, five marks, four tackles, four rebound 50ms, three inside 50ms

Seems to get a fair bit of the ball?
Similar stats to what Kerridge, Boek and Palmer get but they dont play in the 1's on a regular basis.

What would anyone see in North, apart from money?

- Small crowds, check
- Further list cleaning to perform, check
- Coach on the way out, check

Dustin Martin and Josh Kelly have most sides in the comp after them. And the North supporters think they'll be interested in Arden Street?

If I'm Dustin Martin, I'm after a flag chasing side pronto. GWS probably.

If I'm Josh Kelly, I'm after a flag chasing side in about 2-3 years. Us probably.

It's why the suggestions make so much sense a few pages back. We meet with Dusty's management and look to take on GWS cap space so the Giants can get him, and part of the cap clear is that we relieve the Giants of Kelly's future salary.

Anyway, good luck to North fans if they think they're getting Martin and Kelly. I suspect they're likely to walk away empty handed.

I will have to call BS on your "Atkins plays only because their is no alternative". Lyons was there last year and Atkins played 24 games.

Will say it again, it was a list of 6 options, you don't have to like all of them, just 1, as I was responding to a post on who could fill the void if Simpson did not play on nest year

I didnt comment on any of the others because i have know where near as much knowledge on them. im commenting on the Crows as i watch them every week. In saying that last year best 22 pure midfielders for the crows were Sloane, Thompson, Brouch, Mrouch, Lyons , Douglas & Atkins. There was no other alternatives as Greenwood was not ready. This year Sloane, Brouch, Mrouch, Greenwood, Douglas & Atkins. There is knowone else. They refuse to play Thompson, curtly hampton has not lived up to expectation and Milera is not ready to deliver week in week out. I dare say that if Kerridge was still at the Crows he would be playing every week. They have no more alternatives who are capable. This is even a bigger indictment on Wigg that he cant break into this group.
