Keep thinking about that talk about Fathers between Jon and Dany. Pretty important stuff that is even somewhat analogous to a modern social/political enivronment.

Jon, absolutely being in the right to not trust her. Don't tell me you're not your father. Prove to me that you're not.

I do think Dany is a villain more than she is a hero of this story. A lot of time spent in that episode, either by her or others, explaining how 'loved' she is when really she just took advantage of a situation crippled by neoliberalism.

Gotta wonder if her being on the back foot to Cersei causes her to rationally re-evaluate things or if she does what she's always done.
neoliberalism? are you effing serious. liberalism doesnt involve slaves, kings and aristocrats.

read what again? learn what neoliberalism is and stop using its label to blame everything you hate about the world on it.
Oh so that's what irked you. Consolidation of wealth and power.

But cool that you associated that with my real world politics.

So current status update

Dany's army
Unsullied
Dothraki

Cersei
Ironborn
Lannister army / the west
The south

Unclear ?
Dorne - who rules now? Will the Dornish army still be utilised in the war?
Riverlands - what's the go here? I didn't believe the Lannister army was staying? They were only used to hand it back to the Freys was my understanding... surely Edimure is reintroduced soon and what way will he go?
Storm lands - not even sure who rules there or if there is much left after stannis was wiped out..
The North/ Vale - you'd assume will align with Dany eventually

What have I missed? I'll be interested in particular to see if Dorne and the Riverlands re enter and with who
I was thinking about what marriage proposals could be made to solidify alliances and aside from cersei and euron and Danny and Jon can not think of many ... this was a pretty pivotal factor in building momentum for Roberts rebellion ..

If you use Roberts rebellion as a guide.. just about the whole of westeros was on one side of another so there's still a bit to play out in terms of building armies for either Dany or Cersei
Dorne is the interesting one. In the books, the people were incensed at the death of the Red Viper. Having Ellaria & the Sand Snakes killed/captured by Euron/Lannisters is only going to make matters worse. The problem is that the leadership there has been completely decapitated - Ellaria killed Doran Martell & his family, then Euron & the Lannisters took her out (along with the Sand Snakes). There are no obvious heirs or successors to lead the Dornish army against the Lannisters. The Dornish people would definitely side with Dany, against the Lannisters, but they have nobody left to lead them.

Dany is completely unlikable in this season. Really hope she gets put in her place. She's started cutting Tyrion off every time he speaks, FFS.
Only "in this season"? She's never been likeable. She's always been an arrogant, self-entitled, stuck up little bitch.

The more I think about it, the more the spy theory makes sense - even if it's not Missandei (and I still think it is).

Think about the attack on Yara's ship...

Euron promised Cersei that he would return with a gift so valuable that she'd accept his offer of marriage. Everyone thought he was just a bullshit artist, until the events of episode 2 unfolded.

Euron specifically targeted Yara's ship, with the primary objective of capturing Ellaria & her Sand Snake daughter. They were the gift that he promised Cersei, implying that he knew he'd be able to capture them - before he left Kings Landing, and before they left Dragonstone. Everyone else on the ship was killed, other than Yara, Ellaria, the Sand Snake, and Theon (who only survived by reverting to Reek and jumping overboard). The other sand snakes were killed, but Ellaria & daughter were taken alive.

It's plausible that he could have predicted them sailing to Dorne, and the route they were taking - and thus the intercept is plausible without the existence of a spy. However, he's not going to make a big bold promise to Cersei if he doesn't know for certain that he's going to be able to keep it. This is what makes the spy theory far more likely than not.

Euron's a bullshit artist. Of course he could make a big bold promise without being 100% sure if he'll succeed. People do it all the time in real life, why wouldn't a pyschopath do it to marry a queen?

I asked earlier for a single good reason why Missandei could possibly spy and to your credit you've provided a couple that could possibly be plausible. Whilst I still doubt it immensely I must admit after reading the thread I had a very hard think last night about how the Lannister's knew about the plot against Casterly Rock and tbh I couldn't come up with much.

So I think it's unlikely, but I'm not ruling it out completely any more

It would make more sense that one of the Greyjoy's is still loyal to Euron, if Missandei is a spy then why would she be working with Euron of all people?

Unless they have a connection from his pirating days.

I love the spy theory, and hope its true.

It would really mess up Dany's camp which would be great veiwing.

Because she is doing so well currently?

That's what I'm thinking...

I think it's more likely that there's a connection between Missandei & Euron, than Missandei & the Lannisters. If such a connection exists, then it goes a long way back in time.

At the end of the day it's just a theory. It may or may not be true. We'll know for sure in the next 10 episodes.

It's still odd though, so he was a pirate somehow came across her and then left her as a slave in the hopes that one day she might be useful

Then years later she happens to run into Dany who frees her and takes her with her just because, but yet she is still loyal to a random pirate?

I don't know what it was, but referring to Missandei as Dany's "most trusted advisor" did catch my attention at the time as being a little off. It took reading this thread to make the link to her being a double agent though.

These exchanges plus the focus on her in episode 2 can't be coincidence. She's either passing on info, or it's a deliberate red herring.

Makes sense, he's been everywhere but Westeros for years. Probably would've spent quite some time in Slaver's Bay prior to Dany's arrival.

Also, Missandei was alone in Mereen with only Tyrion and a wounded Greyworm whilst Dany took flight and Jorah and Daario went after her. A perfect opportunity for her to reach out to Euron (or vice-versa) with no one noticing.

I think he probably setup a whole network of supporters, all around the world. Missandei is probably one of many.

I can't remember but did we ever see Euron rough up Yara?

The last we saw of her in episode 2, he was holding a sword to her throat as Reek jumped ship.

In Episode 3, we repeatedly saw her walking along behind his horse, with a rope tied around her neck. We haven't seen her physically beaten, if that's what you're asking.

Bullshit artist he may be, he's certainly bombastic, and almost as big a self-promoter as Sam Dastyari. But the fact remains that he clearly targeted Ellaria & the Sand Snake, and was clearly referring to them when he promised his gift to Cersei.
