So, Teflon Dons , I take it that you're ever so slightly leaning towards hoping that we may consider having a dip at Lever?

Yeah, I disagree.
A lot gets said about Baggers but he beats his opponent far more than he loses.
Will be just as important next year due to not having a replacement.
Almost never 'beaten' anyone decent. We could count the number of spoils he effects on the lead in a year on one hand.
Not everybody wants Hopper.**** what a boring agreeable thread this would be if I was a blind sheep like everyone and wanted Hopper because inside mids [emoji6]

Some Whitfield discussion will take place also.Don't think of yourself when I say you everyone in here anymore Michael it will generally be excluding you. Feel free to join me and foj in the welcome jake lever thread
Okay, let's break this down.
Our forward line is the second most efficient in the AFL
Our defence is the fourth most efficient in the AFL
Our midfield is in the bottom 4 in clearance differential, bottom 6 in contested possession differential.
One of these things is clearly an issue. The other two, not so much.
I disagree he would be a brilliant addition to our midfield. He is just the type of midfielder we need and at the right age bracket. Hopper feeding it off to the likes of Parish, Zerrett and McGrath would be a dream. Not everybody wants Hopper.
He would add little to our side.
Yeah, I can see your reasons behind it.I disagree he would be a brilliant addition to our midfield. He is just the type of midfielder we need and at the right age bracket. Hopper feeding it off to the likes of Parish, Zerrett and McGrath would be a dream.
Hopper is more than a foot soldier. Hopper's numbers at TAC level mirrored McCluggage in both disposals and goals. Hopper can be dangerous when rested forward and he can be a high possession player when given time in the middle. We have seen what happens to Parish's numbers when he gets more midfield time same goes for Hopper if he comes to us his numbers will improve, Jack Steele is another example of a player starved of opportunity at GWS and has seen his numbers grow since moving.Yeah, I can see your reasons behind it.
I just believe if you are going to spend high currency in terms of picks and salary cap then I would always go for class factor. I agree with Teflon in that regard, we need game changers and not footsoldiers for that price.
What do you believe based on what we have seen so far would be a reasonable projection(player comparison) for Hopper?

You're right, it says it all... The fact we are able to drop a solid player like Hartley and still have a good looking well-balanced backline means our depth in defense is sound.Hartley dropped says it all really

Hopper I see as an upgrade on a Jack Ziebell. similar shape and size with similar play styles and an ability to go forward and have an impact. What Hopper has over Ziebell is better decision making and a he is a better kick. Hopper is a player of size, aggression and leadership and with the ability to go forward it makes his potential as a player enormous and I feel he will flourish at a club like us.

The fact Howlett is still in on the other hand.....

Yeah, that's 100% correctWe don't even go out to beat teams in the last two.
Only an issue is you don't know what our game involves!!
.He is worth a top 10 pick, not even debatable if he was at any other club a team wouldn't hesitate in signing him up. If he comes to us next year and plays all 23 games I predict he will finish in the top 20 in contested possession in the league. We need this type of player and this coming form someone who has been involved in the draft for a few years now and I wouldn't hesitate trading our 1st for him, its a no brainer for me.I honestly think Hops TAC numbers are just about irrelevant by now - especially if he's still valued on the back of them.
He is one of very few draftees I've seen in the last 5+ years whose body was already fully developed before he got on an AFL list.
Has nothing to add there - his fitness and game will improve no doubt. He isn't worth a 1st to our team though
Yeah, that's 100% correct.
That's why Adelaide, GWS and Geelong are top 4 in contested possession differential and the former two top 4 in clearance differential.
It sounds like he can become a player.Hopper is more than a foot soldier. Hopper's numbers at TAC level mirrored McCluggage in both disposals and goals. I think he said our 1st and Redman if I recall correctly. TBH that's a fair deal on our end but we need to look at what we would ask for a younger Hurley and im sure they would want more than our 1st and RedmanTeflon Dons
What would you suggest trading for Jake Lever?
Yet those teams are in the top 4 and we're a 50/50 chance of making the top 8.Not one of those teams have Michael Hurley behind the ball.
The guy doesn't consistently rack up 30+ without it being done by design - we use our speed of ball movement to catch their slow insides out - so dunno why we'd start bogging teams down and playing a contested focussed style after all this work.
There are a lot cheaper inside options out there than Jacob Hopper so can't see us spending a 1st on an inside mid when we can spend a 2nd or 3rd and get one that's better suited to our game.

Yet you oppose fixing the area of the ground that clearly has the most to work on and would rather spend a first round pick (and then some) on a player we don't actually need.1 year into learning a new game plan [emoji23] have a listen to yourself eth! I'm ******* ecstatic we're a 50/50 finals chance mate don't be so depressed about it!!!
What DPS said yoda. With Adelaide's shithouse rep at the trade table he will only get to Essendon if he wants to get here.
I don't want Dodo giving up a Francis for him as much as I love him.
