Most people in this board here said how bad collingwood treat him , action speak louder than words, Ross will definitely treated him better than Buckley .
I don't think peel jetta or ugle will pass the ball to him knowing that he get 250k a year .
We are a football club trying to win a premiership, not be a charity.

What logic makes you want to recruit a player and pay him 250k for 3 years when he is surely not going to get a game for us?

No shit Ross treated him better. He wouldn't have missed a game if he was still here at Fremantle, which is why it's so great he's gone because he was the prime example of a role player who got a game every week for Lyon despite not being AFL standard.
He was in the top three in the AFL for forward pressure and possibly would be our leading goal kicker if he was still playing for us! Saying that I still would take Brad Hill over him . Mayne was a great example of a role player in a side full of them in past years

I don't want him , but i want to know what BF here think about having him back . In the end the answer is big NO and I accepted that opinion .

If Mayne returns I will STOP watching Freo untill Ross and Mayne leave.

What a joke idea written when it's clear as day Mayne should be playing in the league

I initially brought up the idea. When I did it was one of feeling sorry for his situation and the thought he could redeem himself and shove it up Collingwood and Bucks.

Then I had a coffee.

Then I remembered he's pretty useless and the number 1 reason for my high blood pressure. So I dismissed the idea despite loving an underdog story.

Sadly, there ain't much bark left in this dog.

I see Cam Loersch has been delisted by Suns. Don't know much about him other than: 203cm ex-South Freo project ruckman behind Nicholls / Witts / Currie / 2m Peter. 22 year old. This is his club profile:
Cameron Loersch was recruited as a project forward/ruck from South Fremantle and spent all of his first year playing at NEAFL level.
He stands 203cm – the same as Peter Wright – is a strong mark, and will continue working on his strength and competitiveness at ground level to crack some senior games.

I wonder if he's a viable rookie / ruck backup option?

I really don't mind the idea of Mayne back here but it is entirely a favour for Collingwood so they can pay for us to take him and we pay him in the cap.

Even if the deal is:

Mayne and Collingwood's 2018 1st round pick for our 2nd round pick in 2018.

Then we get O'Reilly, Hill, Carter and praise Mayne as the hero twice!

The west article by Dennis , Freo thinking about having former rising star Rhys back .

I'd do it. Loersch's biggest issue that I can see is that he was drafted to GC. They've done a shit job of developing and nurturing their players, and tall players need help the most.

Do you think Mayne can get back to his good form of a few years ago if he did return to Freo?

What form exactly? The bloke had 1 good season and thats when he had no pressure on him.

If it was Barlow in Mayne position I would take him back as (1) Good influence (2) actually contributes.

Learning from Sandi and competing with Big Sean - sounds good to me - we need at least 3 rucks in the system and I think Griff and Zaarke are done.

Overheard in McGuire's office

Eddie: we've figured out a way to fix this 'mess'. We'll trade Mayne + pick 6 back to Fremantle. We'll take their young up and coming KPD back in return.

Bucks: there won't be any mix up again right Eddie? Remember how we ended up here again? You thought Mayne was Mundy.

Eddie: Mayne, Mundy. Their names are so confusing. Honestly, anyone can make this mistake.

Eddie: anyway, we double checked this time. Pearce. That's P.E.A.R.C.E. I got my secretary to double check. It's the correct name this time.

News: Collingwood trade Mayne + pick 6 to Fremantle for D.Pearce

Well he ll be playing Peel if he does come back, as we ll be valuing McCarthy's development instead. This is a rebuild. He's in that age group where we're avoiding such players- 29. 2-3 years left, if that. He's done for purple.
Hell Ross with probably re-signing Ballas.. Mayne and him in the forward line means there's young players missing out on valuable game time. Don't think we're for that.

There's just no way that would ever happen. No team in history would give up a first round pick to simply reduce their salary payments, it's completely ridiculous.

Of course it is.

It would entirely rest on them needing to get Lever but can't fit him in their cap. Being able to throw $500,000 extra for three years of their Lever deal could be what it takes to get him and they are going to lose a first for him anyway, all we would be doing is downgrading their pick next year for the finance.

Mayne had two good seasons. They were the outliers. What he delivered from 2014 onwards was his norm. 12-15 possessions, 5-7 tackles, 1 goal and 1 or 2 momentum killing moments.

Sorry you are just dreaming, this entire conversation is ridiculous. Collingwood aren't going to give any club any pick to take Mayne off their hands. Their only option is to convince him to retire in return for a lucrative job offer elsewhere.

This is Loersch's summary from his year in the NEAFL, he missed a few games through injury. He was being played almost purely as a fwd whereas we'd play him more in the ruck where he is naturally suited imo

2. NEAFL Kicked a goal but wasn’t able to have a great impact in attack. -
3 NEAFL Proved too big at strong in attack with seven marks and 3.3 against Redland. -
4 NEAFL Kicked two goals and provided a tall marking target in attack. Okay. -
6 NEAFL Best game so far this season with four goals. Tried to keep the Suns in the contest. -
7 NEAFL Booted a goal and had a few other opportunities, but didn’t have a massive outing. -
8 NEAFL Booted two goals and provided a bit of a marking target in attack. -
11 NEAFL Back after a week off and was too big for the Sharks defence. Booted four goals. -
15 NEAFL Too big and strong for Aspley defence. Booted seven goals and is in great touch. -
16 NEAFL Kicked a goal, but was unable to make the most of the Suns 47 entries. -

Kicked at least 1 goal in every game this year, and finished with 25 goals in 9 games. I know the NEAFL isn't great but still relatively good stats, would come over on a rookie contract too

We've already got a small senior list. I'd take him as a DFA just in case he gets poached in the rookie draft.
