When you think football, you think of players with brute strength, amazing hand-to-eye-to-foot coordination. You think of the hard tackles, the OMG goals, and the highflying marks. Much less talked about though is the emotional side of footy. The times when players/coaches/fans do things which makes you believe in humanity and the justice system.
What were the touching moment(s) that you have been a witness to in 2017, or in any other previous years?

Melbourne Demons did a Virgin Australia short film where they took a kid (i believe dad had a terminal illness???) out for a day and let him run out with the team. Cant find it on youtube, seems to be deleted or private now.

Found it here though:

Although a highly edited video and premeditated, it was definately touching.

Jack Riewoldt chairing Nick off was touching. Just shows how much family means.

The unspoken language between players (opp and own) and Sam Jacobs on Thursday night. The AFC and Sam dealt it with it as only professionals and decent humans can.

then fox footy tried to ram it into every single discussion post game, regardless of the topic, disgraceful.

As a hawks fan I found it very generous that we decided to roll over to the gold coast by 86 points to give their season a bit of a kickstart. We even let brandon matera snag 6 sausages to give his self esteem a boost!

On a serious note the west coast fans cheering off the crows at subi in 2015 was an incredibly touching moment

This is so wonderful. Do you have any news how the dad/Sydney is doing?

Channel 7 was the same.

The commentary re: Parington from Port was similarly shitful: "You wouldn't believe it! This guy's dad died in a tragic mining accident- I bet he's ****ing shattered right now! But, as it so happens, both his mum and sister got free tickets to the game tonight, what a story! Now here's Richo with the Telstra Tracker!"

You'd think the finals would provide enough excitement for the audience without resorting to exploitation of people suffering with grief, but whatever.

Channel 7 are disgusting pricks.

I think if we all found out the extent of the work many footballers do with the community, sick kids, charity and good causes it would be embarrassing that we call them spuds and shout at them for mis-kicking a football. But I do it anyway, as a grown man it's a weird thing to do.

Has the story about the blind kid with cancer and his best mate commentating games for him made It to the Melbourne media? Because it's just about the best thing ever.

I would like to see that if you or anyone else has a link.

I dont know. A quick google may have an update but Im not sure I want to know.

Considering virgin australia's youtube account has removed this video but kept the other team's submissions Im guessing the news will not be good. But that is just my guess.

Not life and death this one. It does show what these guys mean to kids though, I love it! Give your kids an extra few hours a week, they are worth it.
