Can you imagine the membership numbers should SOS have an 'episode' and put Cripps on the table?

We could sell of Gibbs & Murphy with next to no hit to club morale. Sell Cripps and we'll feel it.

My 7 year old would pull up stumps on Carlton and demand I do too... wouldn't be hard to agree with him.

But everyone has a price, I'd certainly not let a player such as Cripps get into the last year of a contract without thinking about trading to get real value if that was the case.

And I think we'll start to see more and more of that happening if compo for free agency is removed like it should be

You have one of the oldest Lists in the afl with little to no youth. Going to be a long few years for you.

Seriously inflated this year because we added Mitchell and Petrie, both 34, they are gone along with Priddis (32) and Butler (31).
Our youth isn't all that bad either. A few of them will be coming in next season.

As much as Cripp's parents would love to have him home I doubt they would want him at the eagles, in their fishbowl environment that has a history of a strong drug culture.
Think they would be pretty happy with him being under Boltons wings ;)

Even using Danger as a yard stick, we're giving up 6+Gaff as opposed to 6+Gore. Pretty noticeable difference imo.

Assuming Gaff is worth between picks 10-13, Gaff+6 ends up being worth a little over pick 1.

The trade would boil down to Pick 1 (equiv) for P.Cripps.
Gaff is not worth Pick 10-13, he is more late first to early second. Bit of icing on the cake but no match winner

No shortage of those 26 - 29 either though..

*Assuming Carlton 2018 2nd is ~pick22 and WCE 2018 1st is ~pick10

Cripps + 2018 2nd (~22) FOR Gaff + 13 + 2018 1st (~10)
Surely we're in the ballpark?

Edit: It would be similar to the Dangerfield trade, except Gaff in place of Gore. Obviously a much better deal, due to Cripps' age and contract status.

LOL!!!!!

Did the word contracted ..... also see multi threads involving the word GIBBS mean anything?

Its like the domain tunnel..... user pays mate.

Semantics I think, if you value Gaff at 15-16 (unders IMO) then it becomes pick 2 for Cripps instead of pick 1.

I'm sorry man, it ain't happening.

Cripps > any draft pick available, any year.

You don't trade franchise centres, Oilers aren't trading McDavid anytime soon, regardless of the trade on offer.

I hear that's the prime premiership age.

Our forwards and backs are quality, ruck stocks good. We do need another A grade mid but it's not dire.

I'm so invested in this reset that if Cripps were traded I would quit following AFL.

He is the embodiment of the reset, like Embiid is the manifestation of The Process.

heck! :eyes:

I haven't seen a minute of him play live.

From those highlights he doesn't look overly quick but he's always hitting the ball at a fair speed and doesn't fumble. Very clean off the deck, quick to recover.
what's he like in mud?

Gee Stringer at $500k and giving up Stanley & 20 for a contracted Stringer would be an absolute steal for Geelong.
Stanley is an average role player and pick 20 is meh, hit and miss.

Dogs may have shot themselves in the foot, doing a Rogers and basically announcing they are looking to ship Stringer out...gives the other team like Geelong a stronger hand.

On the plus side, their interest in Stringer has probably helped us be the front runners in getting Devon Smith.

This is what I am referring to, in bold

at least you 2 from WC aren't arrogant tossers like the Adelaide contingent who invaded the forum last year screaming at Carlton for being stupid about wanting too much for Gibbs...

what your analysis misses is that added points according to speculative value of picks doesn't equate to what Carlton's list build exercise requires before it is complete. For example you posit that Gaff is worth X but really Carlton isn't 'short' wings it is 'short' A grade mids therefore the value of Cripps ( like Gibbs) to Carlton is greater than what WC can realistically offer - ie another Cripps ( or in Adelaide's case last year) another Gibbs.

for all the criticism that Priddis cops - he has been an great on baller for WC - you will need to replace him just to stay level with current performance. You saw how far Carlton's performance fell when Cripps and Ed Curnow were sidelined for the second half of the season - it also cost a lot in terms of on field development of the kids we were playing.

Can't see Cripps leaving unless he has decided he hates Carlton which is doubtful since it is expected he will be named VC if not Captain for 2018.

Man , I have read your posts at least four times each because your avatar is creeping me out.....in a weird cool way o_O
